Good post. After I started this thread, I started thinking about the Buddhists, and I couldn't remember a single war the Buddhists have started. Buddhism seems to be a very peaceful religion.

That is probably because wars are started from greed and religious hatred, and Buddhists do not covet anything nor feel they need "things" (or land or countries) in their lives. Also, Buddhists do not try to make other people turn to Buddhism. The Dalai lama has always said that he is willing to give out the information reharding Buddhism to those who are interested but he feels each man/woman should find their own spiritual peace. If that includes Buddhism, wonderful! If not, that's wonderful, too. Buddhists do not recruit nor do they condemn other beliefs.
Actually, eastern religions tend to not worry about recruiting much or at all, or entering into religious wars. Apart from a few Hare Krishnas in the airports a long time ago, you will not have Hindus coming to you for conversions - and that includes in India. Same goes with Sikhs, Jains and other faiths that originated there. One of the reasons Bhuddism did not grow too much in its birthplace (India) was because it already had a pacifist philosophy - similar to other local Indian religions at that time. Almost all these religions are very tolerant of other religions and you will hardly ever hear their priests saying "my way or the highway". This does not make the people there saints. In a war, the non-Islamic/Jewish Asians can be as brutal as anyone else - only that they will not have wars in the name of religion, which is not a bad start.
If Christ was alive today would he would say, Thank God I'm not a Christian as Carl Jung the famous psychologist was quoted as saying in this article, Thank God I'm not a Jungian?Would Buddha say, Thank God I'm not a Buddhist?

Buddhists are typically atheists. So no, Buddha wouldn't thank god for anything.
