One has to be honest with oinesself here. It is possible to argue that Buddhism is derived in culture and thought from Hinduism (and perhaps Jain) which goes back to the Indus valley civilizations earlier than 1000 BC, Or once can credit the tales of Buddhas existing before the historical Buddha has founded Buddhism - headshave, orange robe, begging -bowl and all - if can believe it.
For me, Buddhism is dated to the time Gotama started Buddhism (as we know it) and that was anytime from 6-4 BC. With this buried monument perhaps confirming the 6th c.
6-4 BC might be wrong.
I think its around 600-400 BC
