Its was a planned relocation of 'silicon valley' to the low tax sun belt, and nothing more. It was not a product of that region, where 'silicon valley' and the Bay Area was a product of its locale (Tons of education and lots of High tech/aerospace/engineering/military based firms) .

You can already see it in Atlanta. Now the place is turning into a dump, high crime, job loss and too much sprawl to even attempt any real urban infrastructure. Charlotte ain't gonna be much further. I been there, its nothing but suburban housing sprawl and strip malls (and the grinding traffic that goes with it). Other cities that boomed were L.A. post war, and in FL, Miami and Orlando... how nice are those cities to live in nowadays?

Las Vegas is just ridiculous.. wildly out of control growth.. enjoy riding that boom cause the bust is gonna be that much nastier. Phoenix, like Vegas, is a metropolis that boomed in the middle of a friggen desert.. yeah, thats a good idea. As these desert megacities start noticing thier aquifers falling (they already are).. what are they gonna do? Bring in caravans of tankers full of water daily? Not gonna happen.

Are we as a country gonna let the entire NE with the exception of places like NYC and Boston rot away? What about the (tens of) millions who all live in these cities in the rust belt? What? We should all move? Or is our nation just going to abandon us (Im sure they will , look at N.O.) Id really like to hear your explaination on where you think this is all going.
Where do I think this is going? Nowhere. Basically the area will continue to gradually decline, and the institutions will gradually shut down. Just last week the last comedy club closed. They're consolidating hospitals, churches are vacant, it's depressing. Too bad I won't be here to see it through. I'm sure other areas will bust too, but no matter what happens with the old post-industrial rust belt cities, Buffalo will never be high on people's list of cities to invest in. If a company is choosing between Buffalo and Cleveland, they'll pick Cleveland. If a person who loves snow is choosing between upstate New York cities, he'll never choose Buffalo. The only people who move here are people whose families are in the area, and prison inmates going to Attica to do their time. Yeah I'm an arrogant ass dissing a whole area, but it's the truth. Time to face the music.

Thank you.
Calm down, little mouse, I will be here for a few more months only. If you want, in my limited time remaining in this lovely city we can meet up and discuss the future of Buffalo together. Or if you prefer, we can do a tour of the east side, or take a stroll through the central terminal building. Or we can do a shopping trip to the Main Place Mall, admire the vacant storefronts and eat at the food court. Yeah that's it. We can park at the UB campus and take that lovely subway downtown. Because being a big bustling city, there's nowhere to park downtown right

I think its funny that you actually think your future city isn't going to have an 'east side'

Enjoy that little fantasy while it lasts.

And now the inevitable question.. where ya headed?! This should be good...

Mouse, you don't think I'd give you a golden opportunity to rail on my new city, now do you? But I can give you a few hints:

1) The population is increasing, not decreasing
2) Their sports teams have won championships in recorded history.
3) They have a waterfront which doesn't look like a toxic waste dump
4) Buffalonians often like to visit this city, but they don't like to visit Buffalo.

That's all I'm saying.

Pathetic.... Its cause you know I can bring it to your new town

Besides, if you're moving to some golden land of opportunity where everything is better, why should you care what some dude in Buffalo thinks?

I mean c'mon! You'll be making $2mil a year, living in the 100th floor penthouse, in a city where people at McDonalds make $50/hour and the city grows by 500k people a year! Oh... and the local hockey team gets the Stanley Cup everysingle year then takes to the field and wins the superbowl, cause they are just that good.

Well, your "hints" just sound like a place being made up to be the polar opposite of all stereotypical negative points of Buffalo...Not that cities like that don't exist but... I THINK YOUR FIBBING.
You not going anywhere! You're staying ! Hooray!

Default Our country is doomed...Buffalo is great if you have a good job.

If you analyze what the president is doing, the suspicious events of 9/11, the outsourcing of jobs to China, illegals migrating en masse to America, and the idea of a North American Union (google it).....you will realize that there is an agenda that is not to the benefit of American citizens.

Many in the Senate are facilitating the coming North American Union and are facists who embrace the concept of a world run by a wealthy elite few who will invoke the tenants of the Communist Manifesto once in total control.

Here's the plan: Once the civil unrest and chaos caused by the overwhelming 'human tsunami' of illegal aliens reduces America to complete anarchy, a state of total lawlessness, or the bird flu pandemic arrives, or another 9/11 occurs . . . the federal government will institute martial law and then the one world 'Shadow Government' will step forward and take over. The illegal alien problem is simply the MECHANISM for leveraging what is yet to come.

The dogma propagandized by the UN and embraced by America's global elites in their quest for 'global governance' is a world without borders, a single currency, one standing army and a single un-elected governmental body that runs the world, using one set of laws. Their laws, not America's laws. They intend to obliterate our sovereignty, our Constitution, our Bill or Rights, our Republic, our legal system, and most important of all -- our freedoms.

The push for One World Order (OWO) has been ongoing for more than a century.

They most likely will get away with it because people just laugh it off as "conspiracy"....and that is because the public has been conditioned to react that way.

The facts are the facts that can be easily researched.

This relates to Buffalo because this city is an indicator of what our country is becoming. Slowly cities are dying off. Manufacturing jobs are being sent to China, tech jobs to India, the Mexican border being opened to Mexican truckers, etc. People are forced to take jobs that pay half of what they used to pay and the media is saying that it is because we were being overpaid.....and just need to adjust to globalisation, i.e. the "new world".

The war is now at a trillion dollars. The US dollar is not worth anything. As a country we are totally bankrupt.

This could be a huge post so I'll just refer those who care about their future to some links:
