That is 3 very different areas. To give you an honest recommendation we would really need to know more about what you are looking for. For example, Woburn is very near Boston which would be the most metropolitan of the 3 but it would also be the most expensive (by a lot) & the traffic would be a lot worse than either Buffalo or Spartanburg. Rentals & real estate in Spartanburg seem to be very comparable to Buffalo though if you are buying the property taxes here will be higher (if you are renting then obviously that wouldn't matter). Public schools in NY & Mass are typically much better than those in the south (and South Carolina usually has among the worst ranked school system in the nation while Lancaster schools are among the best in WNY).

Cost of living in the general sense for Buffalo versus Spartanburg is about the same, in spite of what people say about property taxes. Any government is going to get their money in the end somehow.

Very true CK. I just figured I would get the property tax out of the way before all the I hate NY trolls entered the discussion.

I would stay out of the South - too cookie cutter and too filled with mid-level chain restaurants and retail for my tastes. I am not that inot strip plaza's and look alike apartment houses.

Thank you all that gave advises, I really from my heart appreciate it all, JB, I really thank you a lot for taking out time to get thing pieces on the ground for me...I am getting to understand the cities much better despite that I havent been there ...you made me get it real good, well, I am kind of looking for a decent place to live and raise my kids, better school, good neighbors, low crime rate, cheap rent $500 -600 a bed or two,...I currently live in Minnesota and looking to relocate to a good place, I can be transfarred in any of those cities that I mentioned above, the main reason of relocating to east cost is that I want to later join into car business, like getting cars from Auction rapair and then sell it off or send to any part of the world...if possible, there is noway I can do it over here, even If have to do it then it will be more expensive to ship over to east coast before shipping over to the world.

I will like more advice please...so to not make a mistake relocating to a place I will regrate later.
Thanks..

For that rent range, I'm wondering if you could get something in the village of Lancaster? I wonder if communities like Kenmore, Tonawanda, Depew and West Seneca would have some affordable apartments as well. Schools, for the most part, shouldn't be a problem in any of these communities.

Where would the job offer be in the Buffalo area? Are you alone or married or married w/kids? it all matters. Buffalo commutes are very short - worked in the city, lived on the Lancaster/Alden line and took 30 min to go to work. My daughter takes less time -- she hops on the Thruway in Depew. (We always took roads). Seeing as we are on the outlying areas of the 3rd ring burbs, the part of town toward the city has more double homes ( we are backed up to a farm). A one bedroom in a house often means you pay heat and elec and phone and cable. If you don't count those in your rent, you should have little trouble finding a place. You might even find a place which supplies heat.
