If you can, stay on the Canadian side. There seems to be a lot more to do there...wax museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Rain Forest Cafe, 4D movies etc.

NY side or Canadian?

On the NY side: The Cave of the Winds, and the Maid Of The Mist.

On the Canadian side: there is also the Maid Of The Mist, and there is The Journey Behind The Falls. You can also go the Spanish Aero Car. The area called Clifton Hill (an easy walk from the falls) basically has one of everything, it is great for kids. There is also a place called Marineland which is a short drive away from the falls. It is a Sea World type of attraction. Admisson is a bit expensive, though.

On either side, go down to the falls at dark and see the colored lights on the falls. If it is the weekend, they probably will have fireworks too.

If you do cross to the Canadian side, make sure that you have a passport OR a birth certificate AND a photo i.d. for everybody.

Default try niagara gorge

If your kids like to hike, there is a really great hike at the Niagara Gorge near Devils' Hole. http://www.wnyhikes.com/niagaragorge/niaggorg.php (broken link)

Also, the fishing is great there. You could charter a fishing trip on the Niagara River or Lake Erie. We've been catching lots of walleye lately -- http://www.dougscharterfishingservic...e_walleye.html

Definitely try to get to the Canadian side, it has much more to offer than the American side.
