wheretolive? is on a distinguished road
Question Where to live in WNY

We are relocating to WNY and need suggestions on good places to live. We are both doctors looking to open a small clinic in a very family friendly neighbourhood. We have two young children and need a safe town with lots of amenities. I have been told to look at Amherst? Is there a downtown core in Amherst? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Well; when you say WNY, are you restricting that to the Buffalo area? Because ther are also many great places to live in and around Rochester and the Finger Lakes. In Buffalo, Lancaster and Amherst are supposed to be the nicest suburbs. But Rochester has some really nice suburbs too. Webster, Brighton, and everyone's "favorite" Pittsford (which is thought of as the snooty rich suburb).

Anywhere really in that area, the goal is to stay w/in two hours or so of Toronto (lots of family there still). We are moving from WA state where we are always outside. Somewhere within driving distance of some good hiking and swimming areas would be great too.

Well Buffalo is pushing it with 2 hours; like if you don't hit any traffic or anything. And Rochester is at least 3 1/2 hours from Toronto. There was Ferry from Rochester to Toronto up until this January that cut the trip to an hour and a half. There are biking/hiking and whatever outdour activity opportunites all over upstate New York.
