Here are the figures for Rochester
1980: 241,741

1990: 230,356

2000: 219,773

2003 estimate: 215,093

Percent change, 1990–2000: -4.8%

U.S. rank in 1980: 57th

U.S. rank in 1990: 66th

U.S. rank in 2000: 91st

I suppose if youre talking about the surrounding 50 miles you could make a case that some of these areas are not losing population however there are still many losing people even when you include each and every suburb.

Apparently you only read what you wanted to. I was talking about the metro area, not the city limits. Monroe County, a 15 mile radius of the city itself, and the 5 county area, gained population pretty significantly (for upstate ny standards) in the 90's, and has held steady since 2000, growing by about 2000 people. That's all I was saying, it's not that big of a deal.

Well needless to say it doesnt matter where everyone else is moving to or from all that matters is what works for your family. 5,000 people a month move into LV or so I have been told and I would probably never do it. I love to visit but that all for me!

We are not sure what we are doing but even if we don't move back to WNY I will always miss it, wether people realise it is a great place or not.

Well if you are still intrested in moving Lancaster, it is a GREAT area to live in. I'm a Lancaster alumni and the area is growing at a large rate and the schools are expanding like crazy roughly 2,400 students at the high school (9-12) alone plus numerous other elementary schools i believe 7 at the moment. It's a very nice place to live with nice people and a very good education system one of the top in WNY i hope u consider Lancaster deeply because you sound like good people and that's what Lancaster's made up of. Well I hope i may have provided some helpful insight and good luck with your migration back to Buffalo.

Default Still considering

We are still considering a move. We have our house for sale right nw just listed it this week. The marker is so slow here I dont know, but I am hoping someone snags it as we have it listed at a decent price.

My inlaws have a old farm house in OP and they have said we could live there for a bit, until we get settles, rent free, just utilities would be ours. That might make it a possibility, since if our house wasnt sold we could still go for it. I just hate the idea od my husband having to stay behind until he can land a job in NY. It could be a few months or it could end up taking much longer. It just seems all the districts back in WNY are so political when it comes to hiring school administrators. I'll be crossing my fingers that something gives for us though.

Anyone now if moving vans are cheaper during the holiday season say Novemberish?

Default Help! Moving to Orchard park but...

Hate to bother you but I just can't figure out how I am supposed to use this program. I can't send a message/question out to all of you unless I have a specific user name--does that sound right? I just want to post some questions before the computer gets packed!!

Am moving to O.P. in 3 weeks and want to ask locals about things. Can you help??
