Moving to Buffalo area...need help
My fiance is from Tonawanda and we are currently living in North Carolina. She can't stand the heat and she is dragging me to the Buffalo area. I would love a town with a little nightlife and is 20-40 minutes from Tonawanda. Also, a good school district is VERY important. I am looking to spend between $180,000 and $230,000 on a home. Any good ideas? Thanks so much...

That range is large for this area, and its also probably a little above average for this area... i think $150k is more the norm
But anyway yeah you should be able to buy just about whatever you want where ever you want. Id say all the suburban school systems are fine.. so again it doesnt really matter, id just drive around the towns and see which one you like?

So far we have been looking at Hamburg, W. Seneca, E. Amherst, Williamsville, and Wheatfield. Is there anywhere that we may have overlooked? Do any of those places stand out?
Thanks for the help

as an agent and as a mom of three in school, I can tell you East Amherst and Williamsville have the best school systems and the best value for your money. Welcome to the area!

I'm partial to the Southtowns because that's where I'm from (not any longer), but the Northtowns is more convenient to a job in Tonawanda.
Southtowns = Hamburg, Orchard Park, East Aurora, Boston, Eden, ?West Seneca? - is that S'towns?
Northtowns = Amherst, Clarence
Very simple system, you know - towns south of Buffalo, and towns north of Buffalo!

I am very familiar with the Western New York area,
what are you looking for in the town you will be moving to?

Why not just live in Tonawanda? What exactly is the 20 minutes away? Are you looking for something rural .. or more sparsely populated but suburban?

Maybe Grand Island? What kind of nightlife are you looking for? Bars? Concerts?
You can get almost anywhere in 20-40 minutes around here. Grand Island would be 5 mins from Tonawanda, 10 mins from Niagara Falls and the Casinos, 15 mins from downtown, Arena, ballpark,theater district,Chippawa street.
Almost every town has a hockey association and rink.

williamsville sounds right up your alley, you can get downtown from any suburb in 15 minutes .. i live in west seneca and your price range could buy 90%+ of the houses.. its a nice town low crime and one of the closest suburbs to the interstate and downtown.
orchard park is a bit more upscale but farther from tonawanda.. welcome to BUFFALO!
