If the crime rates in the best neighborhoods in Buffalo and the worst in Amherst continue on their current trajectories they indeed might intersect - in about 100 years or so

Unfortunately most towns in WNY have many school districts. Cheektowaga with a population of 80-85,000 has 5 school districts. That plethora of little kingdoms is a major reason WNY is on an economic decline for so long.

Yes, and Cheektowaga is one of the smaller towns ( less than 33 sq miles, about 60% of Amherst's size. ) This is so clear when you look on a map. What else is clear is that it was mainly developed after WWII with small homes and people didn't have 2 cars and school districts were made to be walkable (hence the 5)

The fact the area is, as you put it, on the decline as being due to "little kingdoms" -- be it school, or maybe you would add other things many people want to disappear: villages in town, the parochialism of the area where either ethnic or religious ties keep people together? You know, those things are what make WNY WNY.

You look where you want to be, THEN check the district, check the demographics... go find if the neighborhood is changing (drive around when school is letting out and you get a good idea of the area kids watching who is getting off the buses: check to see if all are older or young or mixed age... it can tell if a district is shrinking or growing and if so, how will the taxes be? More a burden, less a burden? If you have a plethora of little kids and few older ones, there will be many schools needed in the future... or vice-versa)

Merging school districts takes a vote of 60% or more of all involved ( look it up on the NYSED information). It isn't going to happen.

The population decline is not only due to liitle kingdoms. It is largely due to the fact that in Erie County the number of deaths is almost equal to the number of births whereas in a typical metro births outnumber deaths by about 20%. Thus WNY has almost zero natural population increase.

It's a lawless area, usually filled with roving gangs. About 1 murder a day. Usually people try to carry a glock just in case but it doesn't always work. Hope you can run fast.

Sarcasm. It's a safe area. I would figure a little bit of research would uncover it's safety.

First off, I am not a "bro". Secondly, if you don't live in the area anymore, how is the info you put in valid? Thirdly, I think NYC is a lot more dangerous than around here; so your sarcastic "wit" doesn't help people looking for information.

Please be positive or informational, not sarcastic. People looking at the area need to hear the good, not the "I left Buffalo because it _____________" people.
