Relocating to Buffalo area and wondering if there are any neighborhoods with homes in $300's located on golf courses. I havent seen this online looking at realtor.com---maybe that isnt done there?? Also, where do people swim? Do you get a membership at a country club or are there YMCA's with outdoor pools to use in the summer? Or does each community(like Hamburg or Williamsville) have their own pool? Thank you!
In much of NY State, towns/villages and cities may have public pools through their Parks and recreation departments. So, you would have to search to see if a community that you are interested in has one. There are county Parks that may have pools too.
Someone else would have to comment on neighborhoods built on or near golf courses. I know other areas in Upstate NY have such neighborhoods. So, I'm sure that such neighborhoods are present in the Buffalo area too.
(Sorry, I needed to edit) Look at: Lancaster & Fox Valley Golf Club. There are homes looking onto the course; the maps do not show newer streets built there coming in off Genesee. Grand Island has lots of golf courses with houses looking on ( but usually condo/townhomes). Look for the golf course first, then look at a google map and see if there are houses and what road.

$309,900
Lot is at Brookfield Country Club (couldn't tell from the pics what the view of the course would be but it's quite a large lot - 1.5 acres)
Has an inground pool
For schools, it starts with Sheridan Hill Elementary School serves grades K-5 in the Clarence Central School District. It is among the few public elementary schools in New York to receive a distinguished GreatSchools Rating of 10 out of 10.
There is a lot to like about this area for a family with youngsters. I'd say the only potential negative would be lack of diversity. (it's almost all white in that area)
Commute to most parts of Amherst from there would be <15min

Look in the Lakeshore area. It's searchable on Realtor.com if I recall as a neighborhood. I know of one development like that there.

Swimming can be had at one of the many neighborhood pools, the Y (As you point out), and there are many beaches (Beaver Island, Hamburg, etc etc)
And, I know home searches are personal choices, but I've got to ask: Why are you looking for a home on a golf course? I've seen them, but wasn't in the position to ask why one would choose that home. Thanks
