Hello.

The Canadian Motor Speedway project is approved and construction is to begin in the spring of 2014 on this major NASCAR and Formula One racetrack, in Fort Erie, Ontario. The complex will be 800 acres in size and include a three quarter mile progressive bank oval track, designed by Jeff Gordon, and a two mile road course that incorporates a part of the oval track. The stadium seating will be 65,000, with the ability to be increased to 100,000 seats in the future.

The corporation includes a number of international and Canadian business partners.

In addition to the motorsports complex, the grounds will also include an entertainment complex/ Casino , light industrial buildings, and a technology innovation centre for Mac Master University, and two hotels.

This project will create 1300 temporary construction jobs for the duration of the project, then 100 full time positions, and 900 part time event jobs.

The location is about 5 minutes from the Peace Bridge crossing.

In addition to NASCAR and Formula One events, the track will also have regular weekly stock car events, from the Canadian Tire National series, to Oswego Super Modifieds, and other Ontario and New York State racing groups.

Now for the conversation........Did you know about this project, before today ? And if you are a race fan, will you be going to the CMS events ?

I am NOT connected to CMS in any way, I am a former racer, and a fan, and having a full scale NASCAR track less than 80 miles from my home in Toronto , is going to be great. The demographics are exciting with 140 million people living with in an 8 hour drive of the track.

Your comments are most welcome here.

Here is a link to the CMS website, take a look for yourself.

Note who is the main man..... Jeff Gordon's step Father.

Hi, does anyone know what month in 2016 the track will host it's first Nascar Race.
We will be travelling from Western Australia for the event.
