Exclamation WNY section on city-data

Sign here if you feel it's time the Western New York area got it's OWN forum like the rest of NY here on city-data.

Or are we still considered second class citizens and only our taxes count for anything?

So many people post about WNY on this forum and we have no place to voice our own opinions other than to be thrown in with the rest of "upstate" NY (no offense).

I say a WNY section on city-data is long overdue.

Anyone else?????

FedupWNY is signing in for a WNY sub forum.

I asked about it here.

It should be known some place that Western New York covers 8 counties.... Allegheny, Cattauragus, Chautaugua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming.

I see people posting about the Finger Lakes region (Ontario County) who are unaware that it's not WNY.

I beleive you are considered as "upstate". In the map I'm attaching, Western New York is what's outlined in red.

Where is Monroe County?!?!? That's where Rochester is; its the second largest county Upstate. I don't know why Buffalo people always like to "exclude" us...But Rochester is considered Western NY too. Most people consider Wayne County the farthest east county of Western NY. That makes "Western New York" both the Buffalo AND Rochester metro areas...as well as the southern tier. If anything, the finger lakes is a "sub region" of Western NY. The area the above poster outlined in red is considered the "Niagara Frontier"... not the whole of WNY, but another subregion of it.

again....that's the niagara frontier....extend that eastern boarder to include Monroe, Wayne, Livingston, Otario and (arguably) Steuben and Seneca Counties...and you have ALL of WNY.

Wikipedia (which is not very accurate) lists 12 counties of WNY, but anything west of Albany is what most people could consider "WNY" which would then include more than half the state, just like anything north of Long Island could be considered upstate.

These are the counties of Western New York:

However, you can go to Western NY Jury Selection Site to see the Western New York Jury selection webpage & map:
