On the news the State department of transportation said that they just started setting up the trucks for the winter season.

Where did you come from. I drove from downtown to my parents house in Webster. Usually takes me 20-25 min. Took me about 40 and we were going well over 5 mph.

It took us the usual 30 minutes on the ridge this evening to go from Greece to my sister's in Webster. Maybe Shibainu was riding a bike? Seemed a little cold out to do that today, but hey; I guess its good for the environment!

So which is it, our weather or our government?

"Western New York" covers a vast area, Erie's government isn't the same as Niagara's, or Genesse County or any other. Buffalo & Rochester are two entirely different cities, as with all the other towns & villages.

Breaking things down even further, our school districts are not as per County but that of each municipality. Yes, Buffalo's board of education takes up 68% of apporpriations but our schools are under-going long awaited reconstriction projects. Buffalo's citizens don't vote on our school budgets, I don't know how it is anywhere else, the towns and villages do vote on their school budgets.

Hope this helps in not further confusing readers who aren't familiar with these parts.

Tonight in Buffalo it's 26° with a windchill of 10° , still very windy, but no snow.

As a Rochester native and Atlanta resident (16 years)...I would rather have snow in December than the water crisis we are facing in Atlanta. Every sunny day here brings us one day closer to water rationing. Enjoy the clouds and precip... you have no idea how lucky you are...

It's pretty irritating...but also pathetic, so I have developed a sort of pitty for them. They're lives are so depressing that they have nothing better to do than complain about a region that, at least for 12buttons, they don't even LIVE IN anymore. Can you imagine how sad thier real lives must be?

interneet? interneat maybe? pitty? thier? hmmmm...sounds like you're the nut case but I won't go there and stoop to your level of personal attack...I sure hope someone sends you a thesaurus for Christmas...I am not a troll ..I live in Buffalo part time silly! I am a born and raised Buffalonian - I have earned my knowledge base..I live it..and I, unlike you have no problem discussing the many challenges Buffalo faces - but unless people like you who prefer to blind themselves to what's wrong with Western New York, smarten up, and voice your concerns, nothing will ever change there. It's called benign acceptance, complacency, and just plain laziness. Get up off your lazy boy and do something to change it for the better and earn some respect instead of doing your pollyanna Buffalo blather.
And my life is anything but depressing! My posts are not meant to change anyone's thinking! How egotistical to think I can change or influence someone's thinking.

We are all responsible unto ourselves and I have every right to voice my OPINION as anyone else. Why are you so threatened by a differing opinion is what is truly scary..I would start there if I were you and get a little introspection...Last time I checked that's what makes this country great - we can voice our opinions -

Finally , I would suggest it is perhaps YOU who is projecting depression here..good luck..sounds to me like you have some work to do...

Time to pull the plug. I have. Gone soon.....the sad fact is that I dont want to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm being forced out by the Liberals and the government unions, the WORST being the School Teachers Union NEA. They are the real reason why your taxes are so high and private sector growth is so low.

Thanks for posting that chart - kinda hard to argue...facts are facts...Detroit , Cincinatti, etc...same kind of story...it took a long time to get it to this point and I think you are right -there are no quick fixes on the horizon anytime soon -it will be a slow process.
