uhm, the city streets are a mess like eveywhere else, not to mention old people falling down trying to get on busses, and homeowners who defy city ordinances and don't shovel in front of their homes..wasn't it Giambra's house they found that didn't even get shoveled????

Western ny and rochester are normally know for having great snow removal.
That's my point...they used to take care of the roads but I too have noticed a change in service....thanks for the heads up...

Good grief...here it is.....

As Great Lakes shrink, cargo carriers worry
By Fernanda Santos Published: October 23, 2007

E
OSWEGO, New York: From his office at the port here, Jonathan Daniels stared at a watermark etched on the rocks that hug one of the commercial piers - a thick, dark line several inches above the surface of Lake Ontario - and wondered how much lower the water would dip.

"What we need is some rain," said Daniels, director of the Port of Oswego Authority, one of a dozen public port agencies on the U.S. side of the Great Lakes.

So? when it was bad in the southtowns on Saturday -- I drove my '93 2dr rear wheel drive stick-shift Mustang .... Which, in case you don't know - these vehicles are notoriously bad in snow with the fishtailing and whatnot - no winter/studded snow tires either ... and guess what... I had no problem driving around on Saturday night

As more of the American populus blindly moves to the sunbelt like a bunch of lemmings... the more that Americans become ineffectual damn crybabies anytime the temp drops below 40deg F Its seriously embarassing. Id move to Canada but they don't want us!

Phoenix, Tucson, Salt Lake City etc.. are all building massive Light rail systems that actually will go somewhere that will connect their whole metro areas to Airports, downtown cores, stadiums, shopping malls, colleges etc....
Phoenix's first line will open in late 2008

Also their are planning a High speed heavy rail system that will connect
Los Angles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix & Tuscon. The 1st phase
of construction should start by 2010 and should be operational by 2015,
Eventually it will connect to other areas that are building their own
rails systems to the ones being planned in Salt Lake City,
Denver, Texas, San Fran/Oakland

Also they have special or dedicated freeway lanes for car pooling
in the Southwest

Re Water in Southwest, I see more pools, water parks and thousand &
thousands of lakes with fountains & water falls in the southwest,
I don't see any in decaying Buffalo
Almost every golf course, appartment complex & sub divisions has their
own lakes. in North Phoenix (Peoria), they have got a huge lake called
Lake Plesant were you can go sail boating, jet sking year around,
same goes true for Lake Las Vegas in Henderson NV

Well if that is true

Why are all the city's that have heat growing and booming,
with large populations gains and new business's ?
Actually Phoenix has just became the 5th largest US city over
taking Philadelpha and now is closing in on 4th place Houston

and why is Buffalo so so depressed and losing mass population and everything
closing up !

hahahaha, so if I SEE pools full of water, there is no water shortage? And if you don't see lakes near Buffalo, maybe you're lost...ever hear of Lake Ontario and Niagara Falls? They don't need to fabricate water entertainment.....

And I've lived in Phoenix for over ten years. I'll take an occasional snowstorm and a cool spring over 9 months of 100 degree weather with NO clouds in the sky to block the burning sun. It is totally impossible to be outside most of the year here, sunny or not.
Dry heat, yes, but it's torture to your skin, hair and nostrils. Many people who move here develop serious allergies and asthma.
It looks beautiful outside, except it's too hot to actually go outside!
Phoenix has NO summer - it's too hot.
We have NO spring -- again, it's too hot
(100 degrees in May! Meaning 90 or so in March and April - 90 degrees FEELS 90 because the sun is so harsh!)

The autumn is nice here and the winter is cold, it gets to 65 for about half an hour during the day (if your lucky)plus it turns dark and hour earlier here. Most of the day it's 45 to 50 degrees and around 35 at night.

The weather here is either too hot or too cold.
And NO water to go to.
NO beaches to visit. Unless you consider a 5 hour drive to Mexico (which is a gross border town) or a 7 hour drive to San Diego "going to the beach."

Buffalo has rain, it has snow and it has cloudy days (which I feel is unfair to say it's ALWAYS cloudy. ONE cloud in the sky is considered cloudy - when we all know that most of the time Buffalo is sunny in the summer and Autumn and much of the winter.)

Spring is the part of the year in Buffalo that I think sucks. It's cold and rainy. the rest fo the year is a piece of cake - even the snow.

Actually the one in Phoenix is not going anywhere and it has destroyed the downtown businesses just like the light rail did in Buffalo. Phoenix's inner circle is in shambles. The real estate is no longer hot because people can't afford to buy a house there anymore on the 10 dollar an hour jobs that are prominent there. Phoenix is falling apart fast and anyone who lives here knows it. The city is in a panic. All those fancy "condos" that were being built downtown? They are being turned into apartments because NO ONE IS BUYING THEM.

Lake Pleasant is like the quarry at Sherkston Beach. Without the sand. Phoenix has two water parks, smaller than the water park attached to 6 flags in Darien. It is a well known fact that Phoenix has nothing for families to do and that many people are leaving because they have found out that:

1 - they can no longer afford a home on the low wages
2 - the schools are the worst in the nation
3 - there is nothing for kids to do here -- except drugs
4 - the weather keeps people in the house for many more months than other cities that have things like, oh, I don't know, say, "snow."

And people do NOT go out on "Lake" Pleasant in the winter because it's too friggin cold! Geesh, at least tell the truth.
