You seem to think that they way you view a particular area and how that affects you is the same for everyone and its not. Some people can be perfectly happy living in Western NY and have every reason to want to live here; others don't, and therefore probably shouldn't live here. Haven't you ever heard of different strokes for different folks?

I totally agree! It's very sad that some people have nothing else to do but complain about the woes of WNY. There is no law that mandates you to live in WNY, so just relocate. But while you're there stop complaining because it's just silly! And if you have already moved away, why do you still care? There is no perfect place, every city has it's pros & cons. Do you think that it's not the city that's so miserable, maybe it's the people who constantly complain???

I left WNY last year and my attitude changed. I hated it while I was there and now I have grown to respect the area and hope that someday I can call it "home" again!

The only way your steet got plowed on a regular basis was if a politician or a cop lived on it. Otherwise those bumbs never plowed it for days. Garbage pickup was another issue. If it was too heavy, they'd refuse to lift it and leave a sticker on it. Of course my 125 lb wife carried it to the curb but the MEN couldn't lift it because of their union contract. Also, sanitation workers only work 20 hours a week in Buffalo for 40 hours pay. That's why Tim Russerts dad, "big russ could work two jobs and get written up as a saint by his son in his best selling work of fiction about his dad. Another reason to give up on Buffalo.

In the City of Buffalo, streets are/were always have been plowed by priority, main routes leading to hospitals are first, second is what's called the *evaculation route*, which are main roads leading out of the city, streets with schools, and down the line. Side streets would be generally last.

Since Buffalo went to the blue totes (it's got to be about 5 years now), there is no difficulty of residents getting garbage to the curb. A kid can do it. click here to see local laws on refusal of garbage pick-up. Each property with living occupancy has specially designed totes whereas workers use a lift from the garbage truck. They don't lift trash or trash containers.

Typical stereotyping. First you're down on the weather, which no one can help. If it's going to snow, people simply adapt & deal with it. Now you're down on the services. What's next? Police? Fire? Schools?

I'm game if you are?

Try driving in North Carolina where the speed limit is 65 everywhere on the thruway and most people think they are Jeff Gordon's son. Every other road cant seem to go in one direction or keep the same name for more than a mile. you will be lost for a year before you realize that a GPS is the only solution. good thing i could only handle 6 months in that hell hole and am back in B-Lo.

....they hate Jeff Gordon in NC...he's not a true NASCAR racer because he's a "yankee" (from California).

smells,
Why don't YOU give up on trying to convince people what THEY will or will not like? It gets very tiresome to come along your posts scattered amongst the forums to repeatedly read the same thing..."alright already", as they say....try going to the forum that supports your utopian location and revel in some positives

AMEN....I've become very curious as to what utopia where the grass is always greener and the streets are paved in gold he/she (said they had a wife, but the posts always sound like they are coming from a woman...so who knows) is planning on moving to...and why the HELL they don't just post questions and anticipations in the forum for that area; instead of offering "advice" on this area which he/she obviously can't stand.
