Yes Balo's horse meat on weck. But they were some of the best weck sandwichs around.

I can recall when I was young my parents taking us to Balo's for the roast beef and my mom taking wax paper and taking half of the beef off the sandwich and taking it home for another sandwich. I truely miss peanut sticks Costanzo's use to have them until a year or so ago.

Sharkey's Bar/Restaurant? It was called something else before that too!
Pleasures N' Pastimes (like an AC Moore or Michael's craft store)..Made cool ornaments with the neat things in the store

Does anyone remember going to see the monkeys at Sears? downtown LOL>>?seriously..they used to have a pet dept.
Jet donuts was awesome. When I was a kid, I worked at Ted's hot dogs, we would walk down there for donuts..

My mom worked at Pleasures and Pastimes for several years.

I miss ice skating at the old convention center in Niagara Falls. That ice skating area is currently a parking lot for the stupid casino.

Things I miss...

A decent order of wings! Anywhere in WNY had good ones compared to the rest of the country. I really liked the ones from a little place called "Mister Ed's" down in Middleport. The rest of the country has issues-ranch dressing with wings-there's just something wrong with that.

A beef on 'weck sandwich. With horseradish of course.

A good local pizza or sub, something from other than a national chain.

Friday night fish frys.

Itialian sausage and fried balogna sandwiches.

Hiking and fishing in the Niagara gorge.

Drive in theaters-all of the ones in this area have closed.

Old friends.

Reasonable housing and property prices.

Evening snowmobile trips to the local watering holes.

A short trip to the Canadian Ballet

Labbat's Blue

May have to stop back for a visit again one of these days!

Things I don't miss:

The Buffalo Evening News. I hadn't realized just how liberal a rag that was till experiencing something different.

Foolish gun laws and restrictions.

Mario Cummo(sp?). I know you've taken care of that, but Chuckie and Hillary for senators? Really glad I got out before that happened.

Way overcrowded public land during hunting season.

TAXES TAXES and more TAXES

Toll roads!
