People here don't put on heirs are act fake like the whole "southern hospitality" scam!! People may be brash on the outside, but that's just expression of normal human emotion that people in other locales are scared to express out of fear of repercussions or being labeled "politically incorrect". I have always had family from this area, and I just thought they were super nice because they were related to me, now I see, it's just the way of the people in WNY! Taxes,weather,wages,etc..that's a different story, but the people of WNY are truly top-notch! stay classy Buffalo!
thumbs up!

The people I meet in this city are quite unique. It has an unbelievable sense of community. When people in Buffalo are nice (and not everyone is!), they really are sincerely interested in helping you.

An observation I've had is the connections here. Everyone knows someone. Once you know mutual acquaintences, you are in the door.

I think you'll find that true from Buffalo down to the PA border...and, perhaps, beyond. The whole WNY area is similar...very "mid-west" in that respect.

They treat Buffalo like people in San Diego treat Tijuana. It's place for them to come booze it up, buy a few clothes, and then degrade the locals and treat them like crap. If you visit Ontario? Canadians used to have a reputation for being polite but in the past decade it has changed. They treat act like Americans are less than human.

Given our foreign policy, obesity, greed, and general ignorance of the rest of the world, I don't blame them.

Alot of TJ young school children now live in Chula Vista and are going to schools there as well.

We have lot of shoppers from Canada visit us in Erie, PA. There is no tax on food and clothing and that makes it attractive for them, which is a good thing since they contribute to the local economy. But, one needs to understand how our state(PA) makes it possible for a certain tax structure to work effectively. For a lower sales tax to work, it has to be collected somewhere else and here in Erie, we pay a higher property tax than most other areas. The tax burden falls on the local resident. Regardless, anything to bring in money is a good thing.
