I taught almost 30 years for Buffalo Public Schools (I am retired). Consider this: you get the charter kids who get hand-picked and the school can always toss them out if they are a problem. It is a situation where Charters can't lose; the city gets back all the trouble kids. Stick it out with the Charter Schoool for the year. I imagine the biggest problem is that which plagues independents and parochials: administration. (BTW, it plagues public as well)
If you want to consider staying local and want nothing to do w/Buffalo , consider the independents, parochials ( not likely, too many are closing) and also look online for WNYRIC ; it is a consortium of school districts (burbs/rural/BOCES). You can apply to something like 14 districts thru 1 application. The trick is to find out how to do the application. (I just posted the link; never used it, but my school district I live in had the fact for application in the newsletter last week)
