Buffalo has been in a recession for as long as I can remember and it appears that this is going to continue to be our heritage. No wonder all the young people leave this state to find jobs in other cities who have pulled themselves out of the dumps and continue to progress. I blame the corruption of our polititions and the "graft" that is enjoyed by their inner circles along with the nepotism of local polititions. Their familes have no problems with unemployment in this area cause daddy, uncle or other family memeber will make sure they get on the state or city payrole.

no matter where you go you have problems, as far as a recession, sure things are tight, but home sales are UP!

Default government bureaucracy

Everyone has a choice where and how to work and live. Getting a government job and do what "they" tell you to do is too easy.
America becomes a government welfare state with the blown full size bureaucracy. Hopefully, it wouldn't last too long.

My kids and spouses all make over $40K each -- one makes over $60K ,that is not together / they are individual salaries. (their ages: all between 26 and 32). One has a govt (US) job. The rest all have private jobs. Of the 4, 2 have college degrees & 2 don't. Getting a job here without contacts in the "right" places is certainly possible. You just have to hit the pavement a lot to find the jobs and be willing to do hard jobs before you find easy ones. None of the 4 plan on leaving -- all parents, a few grandparents and lots of family are here.
