Here are some census tracts in that general area and the median household income appears to be generally be working/lower middle class, with some that are straight middle class(Keep in mind that the national figure for the same time period(2010-2014 census info) was $51,010 for Erie County, $ 53,482 for the state and $58,687 for the state): Census Tract 010300 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010500 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010400 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010202 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010201 in Erie County, New York

Those are the areas from the city line to Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. East of Harlem: Census Tract 010101 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010102 in Erie County, New York

Census Tract 010600 in Erie County, New York (not on, but close to Harlem Rd.)

Census Tract 010700 in Erie County, New York

You can also view such information at the census block group level, which is more specific and other income information as well. There may be other factors to consider in terms of the info as well.

Thanks for the info. Both my sister and I are on disability so we would be looking for a place with the cheapest home prices. So far what I've found is that the Bailey/Kennsington/Genesee area is still pretty cheap. Plus we have an option of buying a mobile home or RV if there is a place to put an RV in the city on a permanent basis which I have not personally found so far.

So, you are bound to living within the city? If so, perhaps something in the far NE corner may work or would be a better bet. Perhaps the area east of Bailey/north of Stockbridge, as it appears to be at least generally stable to even middle class east of Eggert. Maybe even west of Bailey to about Parkridge may even work.

OK thanks. Yeah we have limited options and we don't mind being in the inner city really. Working class neighborhoods have never scared us. If we live out in the burbs we buy a mobile home, which is just fine as well.

NFTA has cut back a lot of service to suburban areas. That said you might be able to plan around the sporadic service. If you really need to rely on public transportation you're probably going to have to live in Buffalo.

Ok thanks, good to know. I'm not sure if we will have a car yet or not it really depends on how much money we get together.

Also, what about parts of the town of Tonawanda west of the village of Kenmore? Could that be a potentially good option?

We are not closed to either one. It really doesn't matter as long as its on the bus route.

That's fine. We are not set to any one area. As long as the buses run in the area, and its convenient like close to Tops or Wal-Mart etc its fine.
