This is from another forum and I'm not sure if it will be allowed, but what you guys/girls think of these current neighborhood and town descriptions?: https://m.reddit.com/r/Buffalo/wiki/neighborhoods/

Meh, a bit overgeneralized.

I guess in terms of the city, this may be helpful: City of Buffalo - Neighborhoods - Map Collection - University at Buffalo Libraries

A few remarks on Downtown Buffalo where I live and work.

From the Reddit link:

"Safety: A-B Beside some panhandlers and junkies, crime is not exactly prevalent downtown"

I would make a few exceptions. The eastern end of downtown, including the blocks surrounding the NFTA bus terminal, is a bit dodgy after dark. It doesn't feel much safer than the University district (which got a D rating for safety) at night. Also, the Chippewa strip can get rowdy and violent in the early-morning hours.

The map on UB's website includes Harborcenter as part of the eastside. That is obviously silly. I would draw Downtown Buffalo's current boundaries as follows: http://i68.tinypic.com/ivlitz.png

On second thought, I would make Tupper the northern boundary of Downtown Buffalo and would also include the renovated Creamery Building north of the casino.

I am mostly familiar with the Sweet Home area of Amherst so I will comment on that.

I would downgrade Sweet Home's safety to a B. Much has been said about Looney Acres in this thread: http://www.city-data.com/forum/buffa...ney-acres.html

While not nearly as violent as many places in the city, you do need to keep your wits about you in certain areas. Theft/burglaries are also a problem.

Walkability should also be downgraded to a D or F. High speed limits, reckless drivers, and lack of sidewalks make this area extremely dangerous for pedestrians. Five people have been killed along a small stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard in recent years: Pedestrians beware: 5 killed on stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard in 3 years - The Buffalo News

and Maple Road from UB to the Boulevard isn't much better.
