A lot of the country especially the northeast does not have "moderate winters". An open shopping plaza up here in the frozen north would be a non starter. A case in point, they opened up an open air mall across the border in Niagara on the Lake called the "Outlet Collection". In the summer, late spring and early fall its great but when the snow flies and the winds blow 5-6 months out of the year its treacherous. I cannot imagine walking across that parking lot and through the walkways in the winter.

Whole Foods as well as Cabela's (recently purchased by Bass Pro and will be converted to a Bass Pro Outlet) have been nice additions.

I know it makes your day to come on here and cite every negative thing possible but the area is indeed on the upswing.

The Galleria actually demolished a lot of vacant retail space including a large vacant anchor (old Bon Ton) at the north end and replaced it with a new larger theater & a few restaurants. Phase II of the Galleria never happened, which was a new 3 floor concourse retail wing with a new 3 floor Sears Store. Also recently Barnes & Noble canceled plans to build a new 2 story at the Galleria

The Whole Food Store is the biggest thing to come to WNY in last 10 years. Before that, last year
a single Sonic Drive In opened and people were standing in line for 2 to 3 hours and traffic lines were backed up for miles for weeks because the people of WNY are so starved to see any type of new business open, In WNY they call that a upswing

Then you could live your delusional world. But the local media is doing a great job with the non stop propaganda & brain washing, Let's look straight ahead and talk & think about only about the positive and let's ignore and not acknowledge all the very serious important issues and problems that are getting worst daily. Like many other's have said on several other forums. a lot of WNY'ers are living in their own delusion world and denial because of reality and the bleak future is unbearable to accept

You hit the nail on the head, that's right, No One Care's, That's why 99% of WNY still doesn't have Fire Department Paramedic's providing Advanced Life Support and Paramedic level which is the national standard just about everywhere else, but WNY, Your still getting 1960's basic red cross first aid in WNY and the suburbs still have unmanned volunteer fire departments, But the money has to come from some where to keep paying for over 500+ Brand New Tahoe Chief & Assistant Chief take home SUV's and they put more miles on them and wear & tear using them for their personal use, work, shopping, going to Sabre's & Bills game then actually responding to calls. ONLY IN WNY WILL YOU FIND THIS. THERE NO ONE LIKE THIS ANY WHERE ELSE
