Newer areas and those not abutting to Buffalo will have a higher income level, like Clarence, East Amherst and the Southtowns.

Just for Comparison, here are the highest Per-Capita income zip codes in Erie County (US average is $29,829, Erie County's is $29,940). I excluded tiny zip codes (less than 1,000 people) because their margin of error is so large. *The only unusual one is West Falls, which for some reason had a margin of error of $24,000...any margin like that and I take the estimate with a grain of salt.*
14051-East Amherst: $49,352
14202-Downtown: $47,149
14170-West Falls: $45,590*
14221-Williamsville: $45,440
14127-Orchard Park: $45,340
14031-Clarence: $44,631
14032-Clarence Center: $43,153
14033-Colden: $41,817
14068-Getzville: $39,425
14052-East Aurora: $37,427
14059-Elma: $37,287
14222-Elmwood Village: $37,137
14072- Grand Island:$35,604
14226-Eggertsville: $35,576
14085-Lakeview: $34,965
14139-South Wales: $34,664
14075-Hamburg: $34,512
14086-Lancaster: $34,258
14216-North Buffalo: $33,620
14025-Boston: $31,919

It's believable. Marilla is right next to East Aurora and it's not like they're miles from civilization. I've been to areas where you can't get FM Radio Stations and the nearest grocery store is over an hour's drive. Many people like myself prefer a country setting to suburbia. (Like on the former television series Dallas)This includes many of the more affluent residents of the region...Also remember that someone doesn't have to drive a Maserati, Bugatti, or Alpha Romeo to have money. There are many more modest millionaires that you'd never know their net income unless they told you or you were their accountant.

I went to same school with people from marilla. I know where it is. Marilla grill, the country store and the car show on two rod road.

What is interesting is that Marilla has a high median household income but has an average per-capita income. This says that Marilla has many middle-upper middle class families with few extremes on either end. In contrast, a place like Williamsville has a lower median household income, but a high per capita income. There are tons of upper middle class-wealthy families in 14221, raising the per capita income considerably.
