So I will be relocating from Pennsylvania to Buffalo to attend D'Youville for Graduate School. It is my understanding that parking is non existent at the college so I'm hoping for somewhere close so I can walk/bike in good weather or along public transit lines for the winter time. I'll be a full-time grad student so cost is also an issue. Where (what neighborhoods) do those of you who know the area recommend a single woman look for housing. I'd ideally like to live on my own but certainly not opposed to sharing to save on costs.
How is the public transportation, especially in the winter? Any other advice for a newbie to the buffalo area?
Thanks for any help or suggestions you can provide.
D'Youville is on the West side, which is gentrifying but is still not the best area. The farther east you live, the better. Around Richmond ave may be the best fit, which is a 15 minute walk.
First off, winters are not nearly as bad as you are thinking they will be, so there's that. Don't stress the weather or winter. Its probably only marginally different from what you are used to in PA.
There is a lot of good going on in buffalo and WNY so hope you enjoy it here.
Silly question, but have you visited the area yet?
There's likely some information in the threads below this one as well.
