Moving to Buffalo, but don't know where, kinda
My fiance and I are moving to Buffalo to be closer to my family who lives in Canada. We currently live in a small town called Punta Gorda located in sunny Florida. Now, most of you will automatically say you are crazy for moving to Buffalo from FL but ALL of my family lives in Canada and I am getting married soon and want to settle close to where my family is but stay in the US. Now, I know everyone is saying East Amherst & Williamsville is the place to be but I am looking for country. Out skirts of Buffalo possibly. I dont want to far where I have to drive an hour just to get to work. I dont even know where or what I will be doing once in Buffalo. No job yet. And same with my fiance. He would like to get a job on a farm doing farm work and I have worked in real estate and do administrative work. So I could potentionally find work anywhere I live. We were looking at Tonowanada. It had a potential rental for us but since then we have decided we need something with a yard at lest. I have 2 dogs that are high energy dogs used to farm land for running. That is why we have decided that we need to find somewhere else besides Tonowanda or East Amherst or WIlliamsville. I have never been to Buffalo (besides the airport) and have no idea where to start looking. Any advise would be appreicated.

What do you want to spend? Clarence, E. Aurora and Elma are getting pricy. Akron is cheaper, Alden/Lancaster area line is as well ( I live there) , & Newstead is reasonable. There is acreage to be had north of Clarence toward Niagara County which is cheaper. There are lots of expressways which get you north/south. After Depew and out to Pembroke, the thruway has no exits east/west. South of the city, you have expressways ( thruway, 219, 400)
Look on a map. Look for how you want to travel: expwy or roads. It takes us about 10 miles to get to the expressway before we can get to the city on it.
Was just out in north Clarence today and spotted a parcel with a posted sign up: "5 acres / no home/ $100K" If you want to spend so much and buikd, Clarence has land.

Well here is an update. My fiance got a landscaping job in Lockport. What is everyones opinions on there? Is there an area I should stay away from or an aera I should be looking in? I want something with a yard (prefferablly a large yard) and I would rather have a home then a apartment bc I have 2 large dogs & a cat. Any input would help. Thanks!

The city of Lockport has a very eclectic mix of people -- one area is gorgeous, the next street is awful and rundown. Look east or north or west or south of the city -- outside otf the city proper. You will find more land.

Don't waist time and money
Why don't you contact a local realtor who will define your needs and wants and help you to find a house with good acreage? Don't waist your time and money. Time is money.
With many great houses on the market at reasonable prices, I bet you'll find what you'll looking for. But first, get preapproaved.
