I wrote a post on my blog about the City of Buffalo stepping up their attention of surveillance cameras on street corners.
(picture used with permission) Within my own opinion of the idea that I support, I'll share a few comments I've expressed Quote:

the sheep will go for anything as long as you keep them scared enough and then roll out whatever tool is next 'to keep you safe'

Stick the cameras in drug and ghetto areas and the problems will move to other areas. They are already on the 33 expressway and east-west roads to look for cars fleeing into/out of the city for crimes.
Keep the left wing nanny state in power and more cameras will come. They need to take care of you. |

Baltimore Maryland has flooded the streets with surveillance cameras on pole and floodlights at the end of suspect blocks. Baltimore has become a police state. The cameras are a definite invasion of privacy. Their primary use is to deter murders.

For those who have a fear of being followed, it’s only “Big Brother” if you’re doing something wrong!
The neighborhood I live in, it's the largest police district with the least number of police officers. Unlike the East & West sides of the city (Buffalo), while crimes do occur, it is less. Cams are being installed in "safer" parts of the city as well to prevent the shifting of trouble spots. Buffalo Transplant, I thought the one on the 33 is a traffic cam because I've seen one on the 90 at the 400 too. |

Where I live, not saying it's 100% perfect, but I think having the cameras up is a step in the right direction of crime prevention. |

Moved to the suburbs after we had our children. We used to live right across the street from Schiller Park on Zelmer! It was as if in a day the neighborhood changed. All of a sudden people were getting mugged (I did in my back yard!) houses broken into, all kinds of crimes. Much of it had to do with the increase of crack. This was back in the late 80's early 90's. |
