Great Fry-Day fish fries as well! Friday is when they do best.

Wings update. I went to the Duffs in the south towns, Orchard park? The wings were ethiopian style, boney and over cooked. The food was really substandard, as if they made the wings a few nights before. In a wing town, a business should never compromise.

I'm not a native Buffalonian, but I live with one. On my first trip there, the whole family went to Anchor Bar. I've since tried them other places, but none come close. It's morbidly hilarious to me (and kinda lame) that anybody living in Buffalo would ever step foot in a Buffalo Wild Wings. But I know they do.

I don't live in Buffalo anymore and I still won't step inside a Buffalo Wild Wings, at least not for wings anyway.

We don't have a Buffalo Wild Wings around here, closest we get is Hooter's. Their wings are lame...though the service ain't bad.

The only out-of-town chain I've found that is worth anything is Quaker Steak & Lube, but their wings aren't very meaty, IMO and I don't think they've expanded that far west yet.

If you want both pizza and wings:
Pasquales in west seneca, east aurora, or hamburg. They also have really good italian dishes -- but their pizza and wings are where its at

I think the wings at Gabriel's Gate are among the largest I've had but in both visits during the past year I thought they tasted a bit too oily, presumably from the fryer temp being too low.
The offerings from Elmo's in Getzville are good, especially the mustard sauce.

If you're in not in the mood to travel to the city - Mike's Submarines in Kenmore have great wings - and their subs are the BEST ever. Period. God I miss that place.
I've lived in many towns, but no one comes close to ANY chicken in Buffalo - the legs/wings, etc. are HUGE compared to the sorry excuses for the same pieces in other cities - what do they feed the chickens there?! I swear they're like the size of small TURKEY wings/legs, etc.!
Can't speak pro or con about duffs, but finally did manage a visit to the Anchor Bar the last two visits to my home town, and the Anchor Bar, while some claim it's a "tourist" trap, I'd say that it's just a popular restaurant and a very good one at that - "it's so busy that nobody goes there anymore" as a famous person once used to say!
You do know that buffalo wings are REAL easy to make yourself if you can't find a decent one where you live...I've done it many times...
