Ransomville - Wilson - Niagara County in general
I'm considering a relocation to this area. I spent a little time in the general area but would like any points of view, suggestions, info on schools & hospitals etc.

You are talking about a very rural area. It is also very nice... if you like small towns. Ransomville has a speedway ( auto racing) and Wilson gets the boating bunch ( so does Olcott). If you are interested in having summer vacationers around, Wilson gets them. Not as many as it used to, many small "colonies" of bungalows are boutght up and turned into year round homes.
I live rural, but this area would be too quiet for me.

I'm a WNY native and still think of it as my home area. If you are looking at towns that far north, I'd always recommend my hometown of Youngstown, and for a little more action try Lewiston. Great scenery of the Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and easy access to Canada (Niagara-on-the-Lake is VERY nice). Excellent historical heritage -- which is true of the entire area. This area of the state has a little meteorological secret as well. Their temperatures are moderated by Lake Ontario (and for Youngstown the River). But, because prevailing winds blow west-to-east, they do not get much lake effect snow. Therefore, they are typically warmer, sunnier and drier in the winter than town further south closer to Niagara Falls and southward.
Depending on where you are moving from, you'll find housing to be very affordable in the entire area. There are nice houses everywhere, but some pockets are nicer than others. Again, I'd recommend Youngstown/Lewiston (and the Lewiston-Porter "Lew-Port" Central School District).

VERY long commute to downtown. I would say that you would be talking over an hour, I would say that Gasport area wouldn't be as far, even Clarence can get somewhat rural when you go 5-7 miles down Greiner from Transit. Big lots and a few farms in Clarence, nearly no traffic on side roads.
Olcott is very nice, but I always find it really cold and windy there, the piers remind me of a Hollister store.
