LaSalle park is nice. I am from Buffalo but live in NYC so I haven't been to it in years.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
However, I went to a mini park last week behind Albright-Knox art gallery (see 2 pics that I took). You can google for the actual address.
Next to it (across an expressway) is Delaware Park (next to Buffalo Zoo).
Both are great for running/exercise or just reading a book. Delaware is more kid friendly.
So for the last 2 mentioned, you can visit and art gallery and a park, then the zoo and a park. Up the street on Elmwood is good food. HTH.
Letchworth State park is the nicest in WNY but it is about an hour drive from the city.
The city parks are....city parks. Each has something nice but are not the "woodsie" type of park. Delaware Park has the Zoo, South park has the botanical Garden, Martin Luthar King park has the science Museum.
Beaver Island state park on Grand Island has a nice beach, and Fort Niagara State park has Fort Niagara.
There are some nice county parks too. Akron falls, Ellicot creek, Como park, Chestnut Ridge and Emery Park.
So nice! I've got lots of places to visit in the weekend
