It’s summer and time to hit the beach! With an abundance of lakes and rivers in the area, there are numerous beaches to choose from for sun and fun along lakes Erie and Ontario.

My hands-down favorite beach is Ontario Beach Park,

Thats funny because my girl friend lives in Tonawanda and she planned the day out for us at Beaver Island State Park. Could you tell me anything about it?

I almost live at Charlotte Beach in Rochester over the summer. Does it compare?

I used to go to Sherkston and Thunder Bay - is that close enough? The canadian side was always sold to us as the cleaner alternative - sand and bacteria wise... is that still true?? (The worst I ever saw was Santa Monica CA - sewage feed directly into the ocean - yick! The best- Laguna..lol) 12b

You should point out that the reason they are cleaner is the wind blows from the south end of the lake and over to the Buffalo side; we get eveyone else's junk!

I was talking about Lake Erie. Beaches are better on the Canadian side. Don't know about Ontario.

My spouse and I were recently at the Fort Niagara State Park - we were there on a weekday so there was hardly anyone there, but the park was lovely, the lake was gorgeous and would have been good for a swim except there were some kids on jetskis who came dangerously close to other swimmers. There were also some geese that yukked up the grounds - but otherwise, a very pleasant afternoon and place for a picnic.

One beach I wouldn't go to is Olcott. It is 10 miles / north of Lockport & 25 miles / north of Buffalo. It disgusts me an I live out this way. If you go in the water, you'll come out looking like a swamp thing and stinking because it's not far from a water sewage plant that is right on the lake. I don't know why they have Polar Bear swims, in February, out here. I did live in Rochester for awhile and Charlotte was the best beach I found, so far, on Lake Ontario.
