OK where do you get that data from?

According to the Census the MSA is 1,254,000, Buffalo proper is 271,000. How on Earth is that less than 20%?

WNY which was my reference, is the 8 county region we live in, it has approximately 1.6 million people thus the city limits contain approximately 17% of the regions total. These 8 counties plus McKean and Potter comprise the Buffalo Designated Market Area or DMA. BTW these are also the same 8 Counties that are contained in the Diocese of Buffalo.

You can use any category you choose - by any measure even just considering Erie County alone, the City of Buffalo's population is dwarfed by the population outside of the city limits.
