Default Niagara Street in Niagara Falls, NY--Question

Hello

Years ago, after visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario, I would often go across the border and head over to Niagara Falls, NY and go for a beer or two at some of small neighborhood bars on Niagara Street. I enjoyed the contrast when compared to the tackiness of Clifton Hill on the other side. It's been several years since I've done this, but I was wondering if anything along that Niagara Street stretch has changed? During the 15-20 year stretch of time when I used to go there, it was always kind of a seedy stretch of real estate, but it always held a certain fascination for me. What's the area like now? Has the casino helped to freshen up the area at all?

Thank you

Honestly, the answer is no.

The casino now takes up a large part of the area. There was a few abandoned buildings, and the abandoned water park. They have been bought up by the casino, and leveled into parking lots.

The old hotel was bought by Crowne Plaza, and refurbished totally. I stayed there, it is very nice. The city seemed to be dressing up the area, but there are no businesses there at all.

I seriously can not think of one business there..

The surrounding area is filled with seedy gas stations, and strange ethnic restaurants that I would not visit.

Unless you are going to the casino, or shopping at the outlet mall, then there is nothing to do on niagara.
