FedupWNY, I bought my seat at the end where the Sabres shoot twice in the 100 level. I'm not much for center ice seats believe it or not! My neck thanks me for my preferred choice of seeing a game from behind the nets. Too much EA Hockey growing up, I guess.
I'm hoping Mair is in the line up. I met him several years ago when he did a hockey clinic at my local rink. It was a bit strange though, if memory serves me it was me, him, and a couple of Aussies from the Australian national under-16 team that played against my school the next night in the dressing room. Talk about an unusual combination!

Seems like you two are on to something! I'll definitely look into it. Which would be the easiest way to get to University Station Park and Ride (that's the UB you're referring to right?) from the airport since I'm going to be stopping off at my hotel first? Would I just keep on Genesee until I get to Ellicott or is it better just to keep on the Kensington and hit Ellicott that way? See, I'm remembering all those signs!
Any dicey areas on the Metro Rail? I'm sure if you've been to Toronto, that you'll know the TTC isn't the place to be at night, especially in Scarborough. I really only know how to get around Toronto and Montreal with their subway systems.

As per the metro rail, if you get on at the University, stay on until the very last stop which is the Arena station (it's only opened when there are events). If anything at all, just follow those in Sabres aparrel to the Arena. Upon leaving, stay on the train until the University.
Was the Adam's Mark (downtown Buffalo) all booked up, or do you prefer staying by the Airport? The Adam's Mark is a hip/skip/jump from the Arena.

It is a really cool and fun way to experience Buffalo both underground and above , it is what we do almost all the time when there is a Sabres game that we are going to. I'm always fascinated by our Metro Rail Link system .

Those are also great thoughts, FedupWNY! , I'm wondering the same thing, the Adam's Mark Hotel is in very close in proximity to the arena and has a good location for the area transportation networks. It is a very decent hotel, I might add! Adam's Mark Hotels - Buffalo, New York Hotel in Buffalo

As much fun as the train is it would be out of the way for someone coming from the airport.
I would take the Kensington(33) to Oak St. turn right on Swan and left at Washington and park in the ramp behind the ballpark($10 or less) Make the walk up Washington to the arena. Its very safe as you would be walking with lots of others that do the same. Leaving you exit the ramp on Exchange street (left) and turn left at Elm, right back to the Kensington.

It's pretty much habit to stay at the airport now! I wasn't really thinking about doing anything but stopping in for some dinner somewhere on Transit Road when I booked my room. I only realized the Sabres were going to be at home the night I was there like this week after I checked (I had the opportunity to see them in Buffalo when the Leafs were in town last year, but my buddy, big Leafs fan from St. Catharines, didn't have any I.D. to cross the border!) I did however think of Adam's Mark as a stop over, but I didn't think they had any park and fly packages, which is the main reason I'm going to be in Buffalo that night anyways! I've heard some really good things about it though from friends that stay there (fair number of Sabres fans up where I live interestingly enough).
I'll most likely be fueling my stomach up before the game, but if need be, what does everyone get at the arena that's decent?

The renowned Philly Cheesesteak Chili Dogs. Yeah this is Buffalo, but they make this a good seller at the arena. Icecream there is good as well - even various pizzas and fries. There are so many choices and options it all depends on one's own taste and craving .

Chili dogs? I'm so there! If you're ever in Montreal catching a game (which I would advice not to do if you're there to support any American team. I've seen some extremely childish things come out of Montrealers mouths when they get near American fans), you should try the smoked meat sandwiches on rye. You'll keep going back for more.
