Default Sweet Home SD......

What part of Amherst consists of the Sweet Home School District? Is it a nice area? Middle class, upper middle class, working class, etc?

I would call it upper middle class.

Amherst was the safest city a few years in a row in the country.

Taxes and property prices are higher than surrounding areas.

Sweethome district starts at the Tonawanda city line in the middle of Ellicott Creek and runs to Parker Blvd and down Parker for a ways ( I think to the Youngmann Hwy. It goes over east into Amherst ( don't know where). Part of the Tonawanda section is very nice and a lot cheaper than the Amherst side. Part of the Amherst side is a place known as "Looney Acres" and is duplex rentals which are not so hot (Had friends who lived in the Tona. part and they sent their kids to parochial rather than have them go with the Looney Acres crowd.)

BT is correct, some parts of Tonawanda with teh 14150 zip do attend sweethome schools.

If you considering a single family home, imho I would stay away from areas with apartment buildings as they tend to bring down home values.

I would agree. If your looking to get into Sweethome buy a house in the Green Acres area of Tonawanda.

I graduated from Sweet Home a looonnng time ago and grew up in Parkview just the other side of Green Acres. It was a great place to grow up but left the area after the blizzard for Florida and ended up staying. I visit not as often as I'd like but it is still a nice neighborhood and would be a good choice.
