I did not go to either but worked right near one and my fiance coached at another. Niagara's location is one of the nicest I have ever seen. They are right on one of the escarpments from the Niagara River, just downriver from Niagara Falls. It is a bit smaller than Canisius and has a more laid back, smaller town appeal. It waould take a while to get other places around town. Its mostly females that go there (I think a 3 to 1 ratio).

Canisius is larger and definitely more urban. The areas around the school are OK but if you venture too far out in the wrong direction its not good. However, it is in the middle of the city, has great academics and decent sports, and the population is a little more diverse in terms of male to female and other ethnicities. Its really close to great parks and downtown Buffalo. Depending on what you prefer (suburban vs. city) really helps in making your decision.

Niagara University is pretty much by itself. There is not too much around there to do, or see (besides Niagara Falls). Very nice views, but very little shopping or stuff like that. NU is one exit from Canada, maybe 2..

Canisius is in the middle of the city of buffalo. Actually it is right in the middle of a very tough area of buffalo, but the school did a great job buying all the property on main street for blocks and blocks, and they have very good security there. If you wander two blocks the wrong way, you are in the ghetto.

Niagara University is in a shady area with not much to do aside from the bus trips to Clifton Hill (party area near the falls in Canada)..

Both are great schools though.

Default Mostly Buffalo area students?

or is student population diverse geographic wise, and if so which college would be considered more of a national or regional draw? I guess the long and short of it is where are most of the students coming from? I am from Ohio and wondering if either college is just Buffalo centered or has a bigger student draw. Thanks in advance.

What are you studying? UB is probably our most diverse college with students from around the world.. NU is more diverse than Canisius. Canisius usually gets the local students while you'll probably find a decent amount of canadians at NU.
