My thoughts are that if we could get all the businesses from Amherst to come downtown, we could see a ton of new development, yet...still it would be shuffling the cards. It's a shame every time a new business comes to this area they locate in the suburbs for cheaper and easier reasons than to locate in the city. Hopefully that can change and we can experience more jobs downtown with new development, and new commercial retail and hotels will follow along with perhaps new downtown housing and lofts that would create a real downtown. Through in some more attractions and shopping centers, etc in Buffalo and we could see a beautiful steadily growing city that has more to offer than any other city or metropolis in the world. (we do need to capitalize on our waterfront, proximity to Canada, and both our resources and location alike).

IDK if I can explain my thoughts. Looking at the pictures of high-rises clogging every street reminds me of going through one of those ten-foot tree mazes. Does that sound right? I'm supportive of new development, though I do have a passion for open areas, green space, trees, grassy locations for a picnic lunch in the right weather conditions. For example, down by the Commercial Slip, at Main & Marine Drive, there was talk of a new hotel to be built, (IMO) having a big building there would close off a view of the water, the only way to see the slip area is to follow another line of the maze. If to have gaps in the skyline, there no written law to say we (Buffalo) have to be like other cities.

I completely understand your points and opinions. Just a quick question...Do you support new development? Or are you one of the others that likes to keep Buffalo how it is... Or maybe that development is good, just as long as it keeps our skies and parks and downtown open, airy, and beautiful without large high rises and towers blocking the view. Or... would you support just a few high rises that entice the skyline by adding a modern touch in which makes us look aesthetically correct - but with buildings that no other city could match - unique to Buffalo .....?

Buffalonian- I really like the idea in your picture. Obviously it would take some time to build but it really looks amazing. Now if we could get people in office that care about Buffalo we might have a chance. I would show you some design ideas but I don't have my computer with me on this deployment. But like I said I think it looks great. It adds a modern element but keeps alot of the beautiful architecture Buffalo has intact.

Thank you Marine , you bring up some good points about Buffalo's political mess that needs to be taken seriously and hopefully get a turn around.
I would love to see some more design ideas, as I am all about new urban design in Buffalo. It would do the city good to get some height restrictions, etc to get Buffalo a more organized city/downtown.
Soon, (I truly hope) that downtown Buffalo will be the place to be in the near future, and that we citizens can take action to perhaps take a stand against the many corrupt politicians that thrive and laugh at the city they represent so poorly. Most of them do nothing to help the city, and just help themselves to a great fortune and then move to Florida.
This will end soon, and Buffalo's break through is on the horizon. How we get there is the question, and the time is now to start planning for this boom and set some things right in this city.
I am looking forward to your coming back to Buffalo, Marine, as I feel that you will (and seem to want to) contribute to this great community we live in. Thanks to you for understanding this concept that so few care about, yet will when they see it come to fruition.
+3 rep. points for you, if only I could release more to you .

I want to do everything I can for Buffalo. We have some corrupt officals and I thing there are a lot of people who want to say something but are afraid of the conseqeunces. I don't care if I was the Mayor of Buffalo and knew the Governer of NY was stealing money I would tell the public. The corrupt need to be washed out so people like me can get into office and make a difference.

We most certainly need more people like you, and me , so that changes can be made and this city can be on the rise once again. Perhaps one day we can team up and fight for the resurgence of Buffalo and get them creeps out of office!
