You work from 9am to 5pm, you come home it is pitch black out.

You come home to shovel out your driveway that was plowed in, and you are happy that the plow crews actually plowed your street.

You shovel outside for about an hour, when it is about 10 degrees out, with blowing winds.

You get up the next morning, your nose is so dry and your skin is cracked because you forgot to turn on the humidifier in your bedroom.

You have to shovel out your car again, and scrape ice off the glass of the car.

You get home from work, to find your 300 dollar gas bill for the month. Then you turn on the depressing Channel 2 news, which tells you about the new tax of the day, or how they are "holding people in power accountable".

When you get out of work, you don't want to go back outside, so you sit in your house and drink.

This cycle lasts 4-5 months out of the year, and during the summer is the rainy season (at least last summer was a wash)..
You forgot to mention that you lose a couple of days pay due to 1:driving ban, 2: rusted car won't start and it takes all day to get towed, so you're even more broke when the gas bill arrives and your kids are sick, and your medical bills are up. Then, if you're able to actually get out of your driveway onto an unplowed side street to attempt the drive to work you squeeze past a plow or garbage truck that takes off your side mirror. Then when you realize you may be the only person working on your street, how uplifting to see all the welfare Cadillacs of those "poor unfortunates" parked in driveways while their owners are still comfy in their warm beds increasing the welfare rolls. While you're stuck spinning the wheels on your car trying to get out of the snowdrift you slid into, you can listen to some liberal political hack telling you on the radio that somehow, if you're a working middle class guy you should feel guilty because you haven't paid enough tax to help those poor unfortunates. Of course, you're so broke, all you can give your sick kid is an aspirin while that poor unfortunate welfare recipient calls an ambulance and takes his kid to an emergency room at the local hospital. Your day has just started! As you have said, you're going to go through this for the next 4-5 months of the year. Depressing enough? Now you can sit in your house and drink. Raise a toast to your employer who is on vacation in Florida telling his friends how great the four season climate in Buffalo is.

WNY weather is depressing. How many days this winter has it actually been above 30 degrees and when it is, there are usually 30 to 40 mph winds which make it feel like 10 degrees. When it does get warm in the summer, it's very humid to make it feel uncomfortable. I have no idea how Buffalo won the sunshine derby last year, when it pretty much rained everyday during the summer. Yes, it doesn't snow as much as the national media make it out to be, but the weather is still horrible here.

After living "all your life" in the Buffalo area, you're looking to move to Oregon for what reason? If you say you lived in Buffalo all your life, you should have become adaptable by now. We are and always have been "outdoor friendly where you can bike, hike, (ice)fish(ing), etc." And you think Oregon doesn't get cold & snow? LMAO

Wow, I didn't think I could have a background check done on me after one post. You know what I said about the weather in this area is true. I'm actually becoming more sick of the weather the older I get. In Oregon, west of the Cascade mountains, they get very little snow and the average high temperature is around 45 or 50. Also, the summer is very dry with little humidity. I want to be able to do things outdoors 12 months out of the year, not just 7 months as is the case around WNY. I think I'll go for a walk during lunch today since the windchill did get above zero, it's now a balmy +1 degree.

Why do people like to make things up about the weather in WNY.?Some people in this thread are acting like some of these events are a daily occurance. Things like getting plowed in, shoveling, rusty cars, staying home from work etc are not the norm. Not to mention the BS about the summers.

yeah...the BS about the summers is what really got the eye roll from me. Almost as much as the lame cheapshot about welfare recipients and how apparently everyone in WNY except for the people posting who have left or are planning to leave are on welfare and don't go to work but just sit on their couches all day. Yeah that's it....your whole neighborhood reeps welfare benefits from your one paycheck. Give me a break! NYS may have a bloated welfare budget...but the whole "i work to support all of my lazy welfare-riding neighbors" is a hyperbole to the max.

It's true. We're not burried in 7 feet of snow for a full 4 months out of the year like some would like the rest of the Country to believe.

Its another sunny cold winter day in Buffalo. No shoveling. Drive to work will take me about 10 minutes.
