Default Loganberry and more

I loved loganberry growing up, then moved away for 12 years and never had it when I came home to visit family. Shortly after moving back this Summer we went to Ted's for hot dogs and I felt compelled to have it. I am being completely honest when I say it tasted just like Robitussin (without the medicinal advantages). Either it has changed or I've completely lost my taste for it!

Also, like anywhere, you should be cautions wherever you are. DO NOT cross over into the East side (a good dividing line is Main street - Do not cross East of Main). That being said, I'd be slightly more cautions around Archor Bar, which is not in the most aesthetically pleasing area. Elmwood village and Allentown are pretty safe (no more safety concerns than any other city environment). There have been, I think, a lot of random crimes (some fairly violent) in the university Heights area (SUNY Buffalo area on Main Street) but it doesn't seem like you're heading in that direction, from what I can tell.

My advice is to be as cautions as you would be anywhere else, but not to go into the East Side, which is notoriously the worst part of the city.

Looking forward to hear how you liked our city!

Default One more thing...

The Snooty Fox on Delaware is cool (not sure of the cross street, but close to downtown). It's like a lounge bar - cool bar, big velvet booths (kind of like Fly in DC, if that helps). Of course, it doesn't have a velvet rope and a bouncer at the door hand choosing whose allowed in!

Downtown is normally quite safe at night - I go out at night downtown more than most do and rarely is there any sort of crime in the center city of Buffalo. Other areas like the East Side, some of the West side, and University Heights, etc could be sketchy. But, I'm a photographer with a $2,500 camera that goes out alone downtown at night quite often, and let me tell you it is safe, but not much safer than the next city.

Enjoy your time here in Buffalo! We're waiting for you!

Growing up on the East Side I really take offense to that. You are no more likely to get mugged on Elmwood then you are on the East Side. I lived there and never once had my car stolen or my house broke into. I lived in the Elmwood Village for 8 years and had my house robbed 3 times and my car stolen twice. Nice try with your sweeping generalizations though.

I will tell our perspective guests that there really isnt a need to go on the east side because there isnt any great points of interest. Nobody is going to confront a group of 6 guys anyway.

With regards of being downtown, (NJ guys..... are ya listening?) The most, I feel, you'll encounter is panhandlers. When this happens, just say (with a straight face) "Dude, I was just about to ask you for some spare change" and see what happens. You might be surprized to see how many might try to give you what they had just panhandled. We are the city of good neighbors.

The same guys come up to me every time. I've helped them out enough for them to use the money to buy more drugs..., but it's hard to say no to their homeless plea. However, that's good advice, Fedup-WNY! - good to know for out of towners and locals alike!

I can not believe know one has brought up pizza Pizza in Buffalo is amazing. La Novas, Bocce, or Diva's they are amazing.

I am in the Marines Tommy so I dont get to go home as often as I like. When I get home I have to:

Go to Jim's Steakout to get a chickenfinger sub.
Go to Mighty Taco for 6 Mighty Supremes.
Go to Wegmans for one of their HUGE subs.
Go to Elmwood Taco.
Go to Diva's for pizza.
Go to Duff's for chicken wings.
Go to Anderson's for a Beef on Weck and ice cream.
Go to Tim Hortons for a breakfest sandwich and coffee.

My wife hates it sometimes when I am back because I eat like a little fat kid when I am home. But those are some places that I have to go when I come home, and that is straight from a local that goes home maybe twice a year. Enjoy.

The last straw was when a guy on Main Street said he needed bus fare to get to the City Mission. It was 3 blocks away, and in the summer time. Now I use that line, (reverse-panhandling) and no bothers.
