Default Coming to visit Buffalo!!!!!

Hi!

So me and about 6 or 7 male friends thought a great place for a men's weekend getaway would be Buffalo. No wives or girlfriends allowed! We are all big fans of wings...but none of us have ever been anywhere NEAR Buffalo!

So...we were thinking we need to stop by Anchor Bar. Is this a tourist trap, or do locals go here? It's supposed to be the original wing place...is this accurate and undisputed?

We really would like to go to places where locals hang out. I love visiting different cities and sampling what the local culture is all about. Basically, can you guys recommend a few places that would be enjoyed by a bunch of NJ guys? Any recommendations...bars, restaurants, things to see?

anchor bar is both, lots of locals and of course, ppl stop there when they visit Buffalo - I dont think you will be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havent been there for a "night out" in years, although I do go for dinner with my family from time to time. I remember back in the day they used to play Jazz live on the weekends - cool jazz and a smoky room, just like out of the movies......... I know there is no more indoor smoking, does anyone know if they still play live Jazz there?? on weekends??

Jazz and a smoky room, they do kinda go together though.......

You guys will not be disappointed. I hope you enjoy your time in Buffalo, as many do! The Anchor Bar is the original place for Buffalo Wings, and this place has very good food - not just those scrumptious wings!

Lots to do here - just a matter of what you guys are interested in. Do some more searching to find something unique in Buffalo to add to your cultural experiences. We're waiting for you in Buffalo, New York!

Just a dream away...

I, too, have not had a night out in a while. Lots of locals at Anchor Bar. I'm not one for the "nightlife" but the best I could suggest for "culture" is touring Allentown and Elmwood areas.

Please follow up with us on where ya went and what ya did. Enjoy Buffalo!

I am not from Buffalo but a great fan of the city. All I have to say is the last time I went to the Anchor Bar, I got really generous portions of really good food for really good prices, so I'd definitely give it a try. I'd take a look at the interesting architecture around there as well.

I would recommend a Sabres game (if there is one) and a visit to Niagara Falls in Canada to see the "Canadian Ballet".

Chippewa, Elmwood and Allentown are all great spots to hit the bars, Chippewa is located downtown and is mainly night clubs (dance). Allentown is a street filled with bohemian, artsy, rocker and gay bars. Elmwood has a bunch of bars that mainly cater to the college crowd. The food is everywhere. Allen street has Gabriels Gate which has great wings, Try a philly from Jims Steak Out, they are in everyone of the areas listed above. Have fun and be safe, we're glad to have you.

When are you planning to visit? During the summer, lunchtime at the Anchor can be a madhouse. Lots of out of town folks, tough to even get a parking space. Make sure you get a beef on Weck while your here. As far as what to do it depends on what you like and when your here. See the Falls. Do the Maid of the Mist if its in season. Hit the Casino.

Default I'm not a guy, but...

I would definitely suggest hitting Elmwood Village and Allentown. There's also Chippewa downtown. People in Buffalo are so friendly that you could ask for suggestions and you'd get plenty of help.

Seeing that you're going for a guys weekend, I suggest you partake in a tradition of many weekend partygoers. After a fun and long night of drinking, head over to Jims Steakout for a steak Hoagie!

Anchor bar is one of those places where you go because it's "Anchor Bar", but I wouldn't plan that as being my only destination. Buffalo has a ton of great places.

Have fun and let us know how it goes.
