Sorry for making fun, guy. I think you'll find your post funny, too, after you live in Buffalo for awhile.

On the other hand, you're right that Bryant/Elmwood is still "on the way" to full Elmwood Village status. It's a work in progress--I wouldn't be surprised if all 4 corners go through some changes in the near future. Still, I don't think this area is at all shady. It's just a little less pretty than the part of Elmwood to the north.

were located off Elmwood by Nottingham- in my opinion the most desirable neighborhood in buffalo- we never see any crime and a walk away from the museum and Japanese garden. Theres only a handfull of these neighborhoods and they can come a bit pricey but well worth it if you can find a deal

If you want to stay safe just go to Clarence, it seems like the only place without much crime now.

Even Amherst is getting bad. People from Buffalo are traveling to rob, murder, and burglarize.

It seems like murders are really going up in the area, I actually purchased my first firearms since my neighbor (in Getzville or all places! It's a nice neighborhood) was broken into.

Really no matter where you go, there is crime, but as soon as you see the sign that says "you are now leaving Buffalo," you are likely going to a lower crime area.

I think that is a nationwide trend having to do with the sour economy and is not endemic to metro Buffalo. Yeah, I was reading the Buffalo News and checking the Buffalo Crime Map and was shocked to see so many shootings and robberies in Amherst. I was thinking "of all the places, they had to have happened in Amherst, at one time named the safest city in the US?!". Then I recalled that similar things were happening in our affluent, usually safe suburbs here in metro Boston such as Newton, Wellesley, and Needham. There was a bank in Wellesley that was even robbed twice within a month and I was thinking Wellesley of all places! Wellesley, like Williamsville, is nowhere near any ghetto neighborhood so you can see that the villains are either getting more cunning or more desperate in this economy.

You have to notice though that most of the crimes in Amherst all have similarities though. More often, its a bank or convenience store that's being robbed but you expect those places to be crime targets anywhere. The latest shooting on Yale Avenue is most likely to be a domestic dispute say police. Sure, there are break-ins but as you implied, those can happen anywhere. All in all, I can't imagine someone to be randomly gunned down on the street in broad daylight in Snyder nor can I imagine Amherst to become a crime ridden hellhole. At least I hope not!

I was thinking the same thing in regards to Amherst. I don't think it is something that will be a regular thing.

There is Kaisertown and Lovejoy, but besides that, I'm guessing that there might be some sprinkled in on the Eastside.

Everybody forgets Alden because they think it's too far away from everything. But if you live in Alden, you can get downtown in 20-30 minutes, Galleria Mall in 20 minutes. Alden, where many of us don't lock our doors at night, can smell the fresh air coming from the corn fields, can still sit out and have a camp fire and count the stars, and have consistantly high ratings of our schools, where you will get to know every kids parents. Actually, I probably shouldn't be promoting it, because we love our privacy and smalltown way of life out here. And if the secret gets out, it would be my fault.
