Advice on Windermere, Amherst area
My family is relocating back to Buffalo, NY. In fact, I'm taking another househunting trip this coming week. There is a house on Windermere Street in Amherst for sale that looks very nice. The street view on Birdseye looks very nice also. Windermere Elementery school gets good reviews. I'm pretty sure that this area is near Bocce's Pizza & South of Family Tree restaurant.
I would appreciate any opinions on this area. A little about my preferences.
I recently retired from the military, and cultural diversity is a good thing to me. This area does not seem to have a high crime rate.
I like visiting the Elmwood Village but I don't want to raise my daughters there. I love Kenmore, but the houses are going like hotcakes lately.
Thanks for any input on Windermere. It's one of the 23 properties that I'm going to check out, but it's my favorite from what I see online.

I could be wrong, but if Windermere is where I think it is, it's nowhere near Maple. It's south of Sheridan and between Bailey and Niagara Falls Blvd. That would put it in 14226, and not 14221 which is Williamsville.
Others can tell you better I'm sure, but from what I understand, the only problem you may run into there is are the Allenhurst Projects nearby.

Thank you for your opinions. Re: Windermere, which is a beautiful street not for from Allenhurst Apartments, as soon as I got off of the plane, I walked around that street for hours, talking to several residents on the street. They seemed to be all very happy there, loved it, and said there was no problem from the surrounding area. One mentioned that he thought the house was being sold due to the couple separating. However, when I went back that afternoon with my realtor for the showing, there was no lockbox, no one home, and 2 children were sitting on the porch saying the door was locked and no one was home. We left a message for the listing agent. When it appeared that we weren't leaving, one of the kids got on his cell phone. 5 minutes later, a man drove up, saying he's sick of showing his house, we don't want the house it has all kinds of problems, and he doesn't want his kids to move to another school, etc. So there was apparently some domestic dispute, which was a sign to me......But it's all good. That evening my offer was accepted on a wonderful house in Kenmore, right near that pleasant area of Delaware with shops, a diner, Saturday Farmer's market, etc. I really wanted to move to Kenmore, but the houses are getting scooped up there fast lately. Thanks again. Can't wait to move back next month. I always loved Buffalo. I just couldn't make a decent living there. Now I'm retired from the Air Force & can live there easily on my pension.

How wonderful! I like that area of Kenmore, too. Welcome back, I hope you'll be happy here!
