The big problem here is that government is thinking that if they clean up the canal area that everyone will show up. We still have crazy high taxes that will drive both entrepreneurs and tourists away (the former more than the latter though). Without a good amount of new and innovative amenities, Buffalo will be a regional attraction at best. And the new private construction that we need won't come under our ridiculous tax and regulatory structure.

Exaclty. I mean alot of people go to the waterfront. i bet like 98% of those people are from WNY,and the rest are probably from the other side of the lake.

And they are coming here anyway.
People say "the casino will save all!"
That is another mistake, we are taking dollars of Buffalonians that they wouldn't normally use to gamble, and giving them to an Indian tribe. We need to do stuff to fix Buffalo, but so far almost every idea being considered is laughably misguided.
The worst culprit IMHO is the glorified bait and tackle shop Bass Pro. There are plenty of good fishing stores, and a few good stores to buy your firearms. If Bass Pro wants to come in, fine, we will be happy, if we need to subsidize them with taxpayer dollars, they shouldn't come. Plain and simple.

I think losing the grand old Aud is a sign of rebuilding Buffalo for the next generation. We are a city rich in history, culture and life. I have to ask, did the Old Aud stand in the way of better things to come to the city? Now that I've watched the deconstruction, I wondered if living in the past prevented a better future. I have no doubt jazzy jeff feels differently , but sometimes moving ahead means we have to leave things behind. jazzy jeff is the future of Buffalo, and while there are past memories, we'll always carry them with us. The Old Aud to me will always be a reason for not leaving Buffalo. I have always known it to be there. A reason I stayed to raise a family here. Standing tall, unbroken and weathered many storms along the way. Jazzy jeff, your passion is of a true Buffalonian. Soon it will be gone, but never forgotten. The hardest part is letting go, believe me.

Great pics, you should enter an AUD photo contest!
It is sad to see it go... Kind of a happy, sad, mellow feel to it - a new future, but saying good-bye to a great part of the City's history.
