Octobeter to May? nah...more like late november to the end of March...but yeah, it's not uncommon to go several days in a row durring winter without seeing the sun. Often after a really long cold spell, you will have several days of completely cloudless skies and the sun will seem brighter than ever...but the temps will be in the 20's....it's very beautiful if there is snow on the ground with the sunshine out though.

Lax wins, Rochester has the Murder Rate, Jet Blue, and that oh so special Mid-western feel that is so exciting.
Ask someone not from NY where Rochester is and they'll say "....???" Lax you gotta take me to the airport. You get to the airport 30 minutes before a flight? That is pretty good since planes board 30 minutes prior to take off. So you are telling everyone that you pull up to the airport as your plane is boarding, park, check your bag, go through security and slide into your seat just as they are closing the door. Damn son...your good. |

If I had to park, I'd get there 40 min before my flight. Many people generally don't check bags going from upstate cities to NYC since many trips are day or weekend trips. A carry on is common. Securtiy does not take long with these flights. Have never been held up in Buffalo or Rochester. Besides, you should be the last person criticizing timing when you keep claiming that places like Boson and NYC are only 2 hours away from Albany. |

I hate to butt into your's and Lax's amazing argument but I was recently in the DC metro area and most people have heard of Rochester when I mentioned I was from there. In the fall I was in Boston for a bit and most people heard of it too. |

I quit. i am moving to rochester tomorrow. I can't wait to drink pop with lax and have his buddy take me to the airport for a day trip, with just my carry-on bag. We will go 10 minutes before my plane leaves our blessed city and still make the flight. Rochester must have a wonderful airport. It will be so exciting to travel jet blue and go to NYC! Even though I will hate to leave behind rochester, the city known for its potent culture and world class restaurants.
I never knew it was quicker to go from Rochester to NYC than from Albany to NYC. I guess it is closer to Boston too so clearly you have a much cooler place to live given it is so close to everything. And lake ontario!!! It is not just a lake...it is a great lake! And Buffalo...Buffalo is so cool, I hear people are flocking to Buffalo. And that economy is great...182 out of 200 isn't bad, and the murder rate is way over stated. I mean...its only a few areas where people are getting blazed. I was wrong saying a 155 mile trip only takes 2 hours. Granted my grandmother could make that trip in under 3...i was way totally low-balling it. It is at least 5 hours..you gotta drive 35mph because it is traffic and tolls for 155 miles. And all those years I was simply taking the train directly into Madison Square Garden. It will be way better to have my buddy take me to the airport, fly to JFK, have my other buddy pick me up, and then have him take me back to JFK, and then have my other buddy pick me up again. Taking the train directly into manhatten for half the price is way over rated. For our first day trip should I go to Buffalo or Syracuse?? My friends are going to be so jealous of me. Thats it..i'm out of pop so i'm done here. |

SUPER!! I'll move back to Albany! I can make up lies to make it appear its in a great location!! I'll also make up a bunch of ignorant untrue statements about surrounding cities to make Albany look better! When somebody replies to one of my untrue statements, I'll just act like a smartass!

You have 7 exclamation points in that short reply. Use them a little more sparingly and they will maintain their potentcy.
155 miles lax...155 miles; To your wrinkley ass that is 3-4 hours. To any vibrant young stude like me...2 hours. I'm not that hung up on NYC anyway. I said Albany has superior location...I stick by that. Being san whiched between NYC, Boston, and Montreal is better than being sandwhiched between Syracuse, Buffalo, and Lake Ontario. By the time I check this again there is a good chance you have been laid off by another failing buisiness. My condolances on your job...we are hiring out here. Oh yeah...you can fly Direct from Albany to NYC...so by your mehtod of travel I'm can be to a yankee game in under an hour from my door. Who is the bull****er? I gotta go drink my pop and count the gay pride flags so i can demonstrate how unconservative Albany is. |

You are full of it. It would take you around 2 hours if you were going 70 mph without stopping or slowing down. It is impossible to maintain 70 mph from Albany to NYC. First of all, you would have to get out of whatever residential area you live in. Then you have to take into account the tolls that you would have to slow down for. Then you take into account the traffic. As soon as you hit the tappan zee bridge area traffic starts to pick up. Taking this into account, it is impossible to make it in 2 hours as you claim. But keep lying to yourself, its cool. Like you said Albany is in a superior location, I say Albany is not. At least a 3 hour drive to any big city. Buffalo and Rochester are 2-3 hours away from these cities too. Just different methods of transportation. I see you forgot Toronto in there. Buffalo is just under 2 hours from there. Rochester is about 3 from there. All of these cities are in good location to other metropolitan cities. But since you have a hard on for Albany you have to twist things around. And I think my job will be fine where it is seeing I'm not upstate anymore. Albany does not have a much better economy than the other upstate metros. |

"Albany does not have a much better economy than the other upstate metros."
Translation: Albany has a better economy "Buffalo and Rochester are 2-3 hours away from these cities too. Just different methods of transportation. " Translation: Rochester is 2-3 hours from Boston, Montreal, and NYC..but you gotta fly there. "I'm not upstate anymore." Translation: As much as I said about Rochester...I still moved out. "you have a hard on for Albany " Translation: I am thinking about your dong Last edited by acnemaster; 02-14-2007 at 04:39 PM. |

I'm bs'ing because I have somebody drop me off at the airport? Thats a pretty common occurance. Are you familiar with these types of flights at all? And please explain the lack of restaurants. Give me examples. Places like Rochester and Buffalo have way more choices for unique dining than Albany has.
Mapquest shows that Albany to NYC is 2 hours and 40 min. I am closer to being right. Also, mapquest does not factor in stoppage time with traffic and tolls. Once again I will point out that Rochester and Buffalo are very close to Toronto, a MAJOR WORLD CITY. Remote? Albany is 2.5 to 3 hours away form the closet large city. If you are going to call places like Rochester or Buffalo remote for being that far from a major city, then Albany is too. Albany has a midwestern feel with people. The only thing New England about it is some of the architecture. Flying to NYC makes perfect sense when you can get round trip tickets for 100 bucks. Your posts seems suspect. Maybe a friend of acnemaster. |
