Well people are leaving California, they will have lost 1-1.5m people in the last decade, so that's not a very good example.

Just about every city is Liberal, so it is fairer to look at the state that it is in, or the county. An exception would be NYC. Washington (state) is Liberal, but don't forget that the governor's race in 2004 was "won" (read: stolen) in 2004 by about 200 votes.

Minnesota is also experiencing a Conservative surge like never before. The state that refused to go for Reagan has had a CONSERVATIVE governor for some time now, and had a GOP Senator, until Frankenfrog stole the election.

Colorado is one of the states where Obama has the lowest approvals (according to Gallup, 5th lowest), hardly Conservative. Chicago is a genuine Liberal place... and the Whites, as well as successful blacks are leaving in droves. The majority of growth is immigrants.

We had a RINO called Pataki. Awesome. And that staunch Republican Giambra, and don't forget that Conservative we have as an executive now. We may have elected a few token GOPers, but they are weak wristed Liberals.

Basically every Liberal state is losing people (why? because people love Conservative policies). You can't place all the blame for Buffalo being terrible on local governments, the Liberal state-wide government has helped the decay.

You do have a point in that Liberals tend to converge on major cities but then their decided way of life centers around urban and not rural life. I would be careful of labeling states as Liberal or Conservative though. I always thought my home state of Massachusetts was considered "Liberal" because the vast majority of our legislators are Democrats, we attract a great number of progressive minds to metro Boston, and that famous family with the surname Kennedy is a permanent fixture in our political culture. Yet while driving on the Mohawk Trail (state route 2 - a very scenic route with beautiful Fall foliage) last year, I was surprised to see so many McCain/Palin signs out in front lawns. It showed me that many parts of Massachusetts are indeed Conservative, in fact the further away you go from Boston, the more Conservative it gets. The old hardline Yankee blood that once permeated Boston can still be found in places away from it.

What has this got to do with Buffalo? Well, your new argument is that Buffalo is losing population and popularity because it is predominantly Liberal. I refuse to believe that because Boston as I said is predominantly Liberal and it is so far showing no signs of tanking. Likewise, not everyone moving to Virginia and North Carolina love Conservative culture and politics. Very soon, I bet large portions of those states will lose their Conservative appeal if they have not already. Buffalo is shrinking because it has not attracted enough progressive minds and it has not yet found a way to pump large investment into its empty coffers, in fact as you said it before, the city government even shuns many progressive ideas.

Good point about states like VA and NC, that are changing politically speaking to some degree. So, maybe there is a shift of where these "liberals" are moving to.

Also, while people might be leaving CA, San Francisco is still pretty much holding steady in terms of population.

Denver is still a growing area and has always been "Blue" in pretty much a "Red" state. Same with the Twin Cities area as well.

Chicago while it might be losing some people, is still the 3rd biggest city in the country and #4 isn't really that close(Houston). Many of those people actually just move to suburbs like Oak Park, Country Club Hills and Evanston, among others. So, many are still in the Chicagoland area.

Whats ridiculous? Blaming all of NY's problems on Democract's when the Senate was under Republican control for 40 years. Not being open minded enough to realize that NY's political problems & corruption reside on both sides of the aisle.

What else is ridiculous? You honestly believe people are leaving NY because they crave conservative politics. If that is true then why is NC & Va becoming more & more blue with every election? Go to the NC or NY general board & read the threads about disgruntled NYers who moved south. Many of them hate the conservative ways of the south & are dying to come back to a more liberal area.

Your post itself wasn't church driven but pretty much everything about your political beliefs & makeup are. I don't base this on that particular post but on your known beliefs with regards to politics. There is no question in my mind that you are as far to right as possible. Pretty much every argument you make is either rehashed garbage that can be heard daily on Fox News, Rush or from any fundamentalist christian group. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you were a "birther" as well.

You have obviously spent very little time in Colorado if you believe it is truly a blue state. Denver has always leaned slightly left & Boulder is the Berkley of the Rocky Mountains but the rest of the state is very far to the right. Colorado Springs is the home to some of the largest Fundamental Christian groups in the US. You would fit in very well with James Dobson & his gang of hypocrites, maybe you should consider The Springs.

I rated Buffalo a 2. The UB 2020 plan is the only thing I can see that could spark growth within the city, and is a glimpse of hope. A big box fishing store known as Bass Pro on the waterfront is not the answer; how about a Senior Frogs instead?

A Baltimore-esque inner harbor makeover would do wonders for Buffalo's downtown/waterfront area.

I gave Buffalo 1 star. I truly cannot stand this place.

Buffalo is the dead end of the rest of the world. Don't make me explain myself because I could talk your ear off about Buffalo's problems for the rest of the day.

WE HAD TO GET A DONATION OF TOILET PAPER BECAUSE OUR OWN GOVERNMENT COULDN'T AFFORD TO WIPE IT'S OWN REAREND!!! >.<

I wouldn't have any problems I have now if I didn't live in Buffalo. Government, People ... everything, everyone sucks and this is the worst place to live in the entire United States. City of Good Neighbors my rearend, change that to the City of People who Don't Give a Darn about Anyone but Themselves + Money and make it their life's duty to wake you up at 4AM every single day for the rest of your life.

If you are thinking about moving here; save yourself the trouble and kill yourself. You are much better off.
No decent city transportation, no jobs AT ALL for a pay range between 8 and 15 dollars, a very secluded society that keeps to themselves and pretends everythings great by being so nice when they regularly act like jerks every other chance they get, and if that wasn't bad enough, our politicians don't even SHOW UP!!!

DO NOT COME HERE.

AND BTW, Democrats DID mess this place up, it wasn't the republicans. The county exec we have now is a GODSEND, thank GOD for the Republican Party. NY Democrats aren't worth their bodyweight in water.

And don't even get me started on the cops.

Truer words never spoken! Good post, I rep'd you for that one. Buffalo is a terrible town, and I think that you hit the nail on the head.
