Are you joking me? NY's high school graduation rates are right around Alabama's, North Carolina's is higher, as are Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
Matter of fact, New York is in the BOTTOM 15, despite having the HIGHEST taxes in the US.
Not only that, but Buffalo schools, with the exception of city honors were ranked by the Buffalo News to be the worse, except for Elmira's.
Buffalo's graduation rate is 52%. Amazing.

Honestly, where do you get your "facts" from? Do you just make stuff up to make Buffalo sound like a better city? Because time after time, you say things which are not only inaccurate, but outright made up.

He is correct here, Rochester has some similar numbers too. The suburbs are always are substantially higher. So basically 1 out of 2 inner city kids decide that its better to live without an education. That really is a horrible number.

Wow, do you even realize how little your argument has to do with the truth? Graduation rates (especially in a state like NY that is home to a city of 19 million people) have very little to do with the quality of education being offered. You don't think that NYC's drop outs per year drags down these numbers? Inner city graduation rates are always lower be it in Buffalo, NYC, Dallas, Columbus or wherever & it has very little bearing on what kind of education is being offered in said school system.
Williamsville, Clarence, Lancaster, Eden, Orchard Park, East Aurora, Hamburg, Frontier, Iroquois, Amherst, Sweet Home & West Seneca are all considered very good schools & Buffalo City Honors was top 50 in the nation in a recent US news report. That same report had 17 NY schools in the top 100, 3 from Virginia, 1 from Tennessee & 0 from NC, Kentucky & Arkansas. In fact the top 100 was dominated by NY, California & Massachusetts.

LOL NYC's population is about 10 million.
You are saying that 12% of NYC's population drops out EACH YEAR. That makes no sense at all. That means every 4 years that nearly 5 million of NYC 10 million DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL.
Like I said, you are obviously just making up statistics. Furthermore, you ignored that only 52% of Buffalo students graduate. So that means that odds are only 1 of your children will graduate.

Now, back to discussing with people with an ounce of logic. One thing that I do really like about the city (area), is the truly great parks and fishing we have around here. Many of us forget about Niagara Falls, where people travel thousands of miles to see, yet we might ignore it for years. We are right around one of the wonders of the world, and I think that is awesome!

I have a lot to say about this that people need to consider, but I will stay on topic. I think you will also like that the location allow you to go places that people mentioned like Niagara Falls and Toronto. You also have Darien Lake Amusement Park(with a campsite), Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, Seabreeze in Rochester, the NY State fair in Syracuse is only 2 hours away, the Finger Lakes are within an hour to an hour and a half. So, you have options for things to do with the family.
BTW-City Honors Grad Rate-98% in 2008, McKinley Grad Rate-77% in 2008, DaVinci Grad Rate-90% in 2008, Hutch Tech Grad Rate-90% in 2008 and Arts High Grad Rate-78% in 2008. So, it depends on which Buffalo City High School you go to as well. Source: https://www.nystart.gov/publicweb/Di...t=140600010000
Also, NYC's population is 8 millions and the total metro is about 19 million when you consider the areas it covers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_metropolitan_area

Also, if you notice even in the information given about Erie County grad. rates, all of them were around 90% of higher, with the exception of Buffalo.
Like I said before, even with Buffalo's grad rate, it depends on which high school you go to and considering that there are around 13-15 high schools in the city of Buffalo, you should expect some varied results. I forgot about Emerson's Grad. Rate in 2008, which was 88%: https://www.nystart.gov/publicweb-rc...0600010104.pdf

In Erie and Niagara counties, 34 school district were above the state average, and just four — Buffalo, Lake Shore, Lackawanna and Niagara Falls — fell below that mark.
The Iroquois School District had the highest local graduation rate at 95 percent. Clarence, East Aurora, Eden, North Collins, Orchard Park, Williamsville and Barker also were at or above 90 percent.
