It says Buffalo gained 0.0% in jobs, so probably just in the double digits in terms of actual job gains... still the fourth best. To me the more significant part was Buffalo's housing performance, for someone who is looking to sell a house in Buffalo, this is great news.

But we did the 4th best in terms of not losing jobs, that's not bad, especially given the economic makeup. Perhaps this is a sign that we have finally shed the surplus in manufacturing jobs and are turning the city around with service sector jobs. Still not white collar, but if it suits the area, and there is economic need for what Buffalo wants to specialize in, that is a good thing.

This is actually the more relevant data (very glad to see that my two favorite cities right now (OKC and Tulsa) and amongst the strongest in the nation):

Quote:
Percent employment change, metro peak to Rank Metro 2009Q2
1 McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, TX -0.1%
2 Austin-Round Rock, TX -0.5%
3 San Antonio, TX -0.6%
4 Baton Rouge, LA -0.7%
5 El Paso, TX -1.1%
6 Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV -1.3%
7 Oklahoma City, OK -1.3%
8 Tulsa, OK -1.5%
9 Des Moines-West Des Moines, IA -1.5%
10 Rochester, NY -1.6%
11 Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, AR -1.6%
12 Syracuse, NY -1.8%
13 Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX -1.9%
14 Columbus, OH -2.0%
15 Omaha-Council Bluffs, NE-IA -2.0%
And here is what you quoted, I am very happy to see a few cities that I was looking at moving to, but had almost written off (namely North Charleston and Greenville) have improved also.

Quote:
Percent employment change, 2009Q1 to Rank Metro 2009Q2
1 Akron, OH 0.3%
2 Columbia, SC 0.2%
3 McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, TX 0.2%
4 Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY 0.0%
5 Madison, WI 0.0%
6 Austin-Round Rock, TX 0.0%
7 Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville, SC -0.1%
8 Des Moines-West Des Moines, IA -0.1%
9 Jackson, MS -0.1%
10 Dayton, OH -0.2%
11 Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, AR -0.2%
12 San Antonio, TX -0.2%
13 Columbus, OH -0.3%
14 Baton Rouge, LA -0.3%
15 Greenville-Mauldin-Easley, SC -0.3%

Nope. But they are trying to stop ACORN funding so that might hurt

I heard that there are lots of Czar position available. Your only qualifications have are that you are a far-leftist, and you can't mind having a position of influence, and not being accountable to the American people... Kind of like the Soviet Union huh?

When your economy is perpetually depressed, it's hard to send it lower. Like they say "you can't blow up a parking lot."

Buffalo will never spike up or down, it will just continue to die a very slow painful death, much like Rochester or Syracuse.

People on the far right are no better than those on the far left, they both would impose their beliefs on the general populace if given half the chance ..... and neither would move this nation forward. Just because the Fundies & their tin foil hat brigade dress up their Fascist beliefs in a flag of patriotism & a bible doesn't make them any better than the other fringe group fanatics.
What the hell are you talking about? I was simply pointing out the excessive government growth and how it correlates with added jobs in Washington. I'm very middle of the road and I certainly do not endorse any additional government.

As for the Christian comment, I have a personal struggle with being convinced to any sort of organized religion...

P.S. Your post sounds very rehearsed.

Since my original response was deleted lets just say that the post wasn't directed at you or your post regarding Obama/Jobs.

Actually, Syracuse is building up in the city with projects like, a biotech center, a children's hospital, the Center of Excellence and an engineering/project delivery company moving from the Eastern suburbs to Downtown. So, it is a city in transition from manufacturing to more higher education/health care/engineering and high tech jobs. Check out this long thread: Syracuse Construction Update

I've heard that SU is dumping money into the area, which is awesome.

Take note, this is what private funds can do.
