Not quite! And even if you did have to wait a couple of hours for non emergency treatment (you'll be bumped to the front of the line if you've suffered a gun shot wound), it's due to the fact there's one line for all---rich, poor, middle class, destitute etc....It's a good system up here. I don't have to worry about the size of my wallet in order to get healthy nor do I have to worry about being denied coverage because of some pre-condition.

Default Go to East Amherst

Hi,
I know its more expensive but well worth it. Go to East Amherst. Very quiet and safe.

1. North Pearl Street
2. Johnson Park @ Elmwood
3. Linwood @ West Ferry
4. Virginia/ Franklin

I am wondering if anyone who is familiar with this part of Buffalo can comment on the general safety/wisdom of moving to these potential apartments. I am totally unfamiliar with this area and would really appreciate any help.

Thanks!

I walked the area around Humbolt and Northland st quite a few times during the day and once or twice during the night. I was interested in the building at 401 Northland. IT is an all Black area but everyone was either friendly or in one case too high to say much. The owner of 401 had an attitude and I didn't buy it but he was an absentee owner.

Is that considered one of the "rougher" neighborhoods of Buffalo?

Many people come on here, asking about housing in the ghetto, asking if it is safe..

You take your chances, here is the deal with that area. The city bulldozed a bunch of houses in the early 90's, and built these rows of cookie cutter two floor houses I think in 1994.

That is N Division street, S Division street and the surrounding areas. I don't know the facts of who lives there, but the area has a pretty strong vibe of Section 8, and Low Income home loans for people.

It's the east side of Buffalo, and sugarcoat it if you want, but I wouldn't even drive in the area after dark. The only reason I know of the area as a person who has lived in the suburbs, is that we had to drive through there every week for work.

I would say that is one of the better areas on the east side, but is that a good thing?

Where are you going to school? What is your budget for housing?

The good thing about buffalo, is that you can drive to the suburbs, or drive in from a different better area of buffalo and still pay very cheap rent, and be in a much safer area.

Isn't that the area where they found a dead girl stuffed in a garbage can? Tbombz why are you looking at that area? Where are you planning to go to school. Rents are very cheap in WNY. Better yet just dorm for a semester until you know the area and where you would feel safe.

I agree that you can find something cheap in the city of Buffalo in a decent to nice area. This website might help: mapkrieg.com or google "the renters guide Buffalo".

To all the ignorant suburbanites that used the term "ghetto", that was from the late 70's.
