I guess there was a Bishop McMahon High School too....Bishop McMahon High School Another one is Bishop O'Hern High School too. Turner/Carroll were separate High Schools at one time too. One was Bishop Turner and the other Archbishop Carroll.
Fr. Baker Hs(boys) and Our Lady of Victory HS (girls) combined to Baker Victory HS and closed around 1980.
Ryan HS was also in Williamsville, closed about 1971.
Fallon and Dougherty were all male closed about 1974 and 1980.
DeSalles, O'Hara, Neumann, Gibbons, Walsh, Notre Dame(Batavia), St Mary's & Mindzsenty were(or are) all co-institutional or co-ed.
Bishop Gibbons HS was located in North Tonawanda, on Payne Avenue just north of the Mid City Plaza, and on the other side of the street and around the corner from NT High School on Meadow Drive. The building is now a senior citizens apartment complex. I believe it has been added onto, it was a one story structure during its lifetime as a high school.
That lifetime was only from 1961 through 1971. There were only 8 graduating classes, from '64 through '71.
The closing was the beginning of the gradual closing of many Catholic schools in the '70s and '80s. as enrollments steadily dropped. My graduating class began with about 150 freshmen but by senior graduation day we were down to just under 100. Speculation at the time was that the Diocese concluded North Tonawanda and Tonawanda could no longer support 2 Catholic high schools, Cardinal O'Hara being the other one. I believe but can't say for certain that Bishop Fallon and Bishop Ryan high schools closed at the same time. I think Fallon was on Main Street in Buffalo, I don't recall where Ryan was.
Bishop Ryan was located on Clinton Street between Bailey Avenue and South Ogden Street, an area still known today as "Kaisertown". Our school closed in 1971. Some students transferred to St. Francis, Timon and Turner. Paul Andruczyk Ryan'58
Bishop Ryan High School was located on Clinton Street, east of Bailey Avenue, in the Kaisertown section of East Buffalo. It was founded in 1946 at the Saint John Kanty Parish off Broadway, and moved to its Clinton Street location in the early 1950's. Ryan was the premier diocesan Catholic boys' high school serving Buffalo's Polish-American community throughout the 1950's. After more schools were built in the early 1960's Ryan enrollment began a steady decline until it was closed in June 1971. Despite its short history Ryan produced many championship sports teams in the Buffalo Catholic League, and its graduates moved on to myriad careers in medicine, politics, education, military and sports.
