Thinking of meeting a friend in Buffalo for a few days and would take the Amtrak in. Is it in a safe area for a single woman waiting in a car? Also what are some safe areas to look for a hotel at? Thanks...

Both Amtrack stations are in relatively safe locations. The downtown location is in close proximity to a bunch of hotels.

Where are you going to? The Depew station is closer to the airport and there are many hotels there. The Depew station also can get you a cab to a hotel -- or if you have a place you are staying, you probably can get a van from them (larger hotels).

It depends on where you are going: if to the eastern burbs, Depew makes more sense. You will get a better answer if you give the area

The Depew one is fine. Right near the BUF airport (within a mile)..

If you want a hotel, you would want to book near Cheektowaga or Depew. If you want a bit of a ride (5 miles max), then expand it to West Seneca..

The Depew location is in a safe neighborhood. Depew is a safe suburb. There is not a lot immediately around that station. However, it is in no way a bad area. I live about 2 minutes from that station.

They are both fine - safety wise. They are only a few minutes apart by car so i would go to the one that is cheaper and quicker.

We want to take our five year old grandson on a train from Rochester to Buffalo (Depew station). We would have two hours in between. Is there anything to do or place to eat at the station?

I think you might prefer to come into the Buffalo station because it's right in downtown Buffalo, not far from Canalside. There's not much right around the Depew station IIRC.

Amtrak Depew is safe, though the sense of "nothingness" in the surroundings is mildly scary
