Default 55+ Areas/Rental Agencies in Chittenden County

Hello,

I am moving from the Midwest to Burlington for a position at UVM, and am looking to rent a house or condo for a six to twelve month period of time to become more familiar with Burlington before purchasing. Are there particular rental agencies I should look into contacting? Understandably, I'd like to not live in the student area and and am looking more into Colchester, Shelburne and Essex Junction.

Also, my parents are moving with me due to differing medical reasons (although are still relatively active). Is there anything close to a retirement community (and/or neighborhood) with people my parents' age (mid sixties)?

Thank you.

Hi Oceanrow-

Below are a few links for checking out rentals:

Due to a very slow real estate market, many folks in Chittenden county are renting out their homes while they are on the market, or even taking their homes off the market in order to get rental income. You could try calling the local real estate agencies and asking whether their sellers might be open to renting.

As for retirement communities, there is a great one in Shelburne (actually, there are two or three in Shelburne): Wake Robin...check it out at WakeRobin.com

Here are the links for rentals....Craigslist (linked below) is a great resource and rentals are updated daily.

VermontLori,

Thanks for answering so quickly, this is very helpful. I'll also pass on the information regarding WakeRobin to my parents.
